Good Saturday morning from the Belle Volleyball Tournament at Belle High School and pool play between the Dixon Lady Bulldogs and host Lady Tigers. Belle currently leads Dixon 16-10 in game one.

Last Wednesday at Hood Park during the Cuba Invitational Cross Country meet, seven runners from Bland Middle School and Belle High School posted top-10 finishes during their respective races.

From freshman to seniors, Lady Eagles play with heart in unforgettable week

VIENNA — It’s been a wild week for Vienna softball. Over the last seven days, the Lady Eagles played six games, and what a ride it was. They battled, celebrated, cried and cheered their way through all six games and pushed their season record to 12-8. There were home runs, a grand slam and a whole lot of heart. Being a VHS softball fan this week was one for the books.

Vienna middle school students take part in su***de awareness training

VIENNA — This past September, Maries R-1 middle school students in grades five through eight took part in the state’s “Signs of Suicide” program, a training designed to help young people recognize warning signs of depression and suicidal thoughts. The initiative, offered across Missouri for students in grades five through twelve, though only given to grades 5-8 at Maries R-1, aims to equip students with the tools to support themselves and their peers.

Maries County R-1 School Board reviews programs, slight decrease in funds

VIENNA — The Maries County R-1 Board of Education released on Sept. 23 the district will receive fewer federal education dollars this year, with services funding totaling $117,043.15, a decrease of $8,842.89 from last year’s $125,886.04.
