Generosity, holiday cheer light up Senior Center in Vienna

VIENNA — The Vienna Senior Center on Dec. 18 received a $10,000 check from Three Rivers Electric Company, a gift that will help keep meals served, programs running and the doors open, according to Center Administrator Brandi Pendleton.

TAC/MRPC confirm Highway 63, 50 as top transportation priorities

ST. JAMES — The expansion of Highways 63 and 50 to four-lane corridors are the number one and two regional transportation priorities, respectively, the Meramec Region’s Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) confirmed at its Dec. 11 meeting. The proposed projects on Highway 63 and Highway 50 have topped the regional priority list for several years.

Maries County R-1 Board of Education approves construction project for HS roof

VIENNA — The Maries County R-1 Board of Education on Dec. 16 approved a high school roof project, awarding the contract for $100,357 to Missouri Builder Services.
The project will use upgraded Class 4 shingles, which provide enhanced durability and better resistance to hail and extreme weather compared to standard shingles. Class 4 shingles also offer a longer lifespan, expected between 30 and 50 years, giving the school long-term protection at a manageable cost. Superintendent Teresa Messersmith said she has had no past business problems with Missouri Builder Services.

VHS Eagles bounce back with win at Chamois

VIENNA — The Vienna Eagles boys basketball team returned to the win column Dec. 19 with a 55-18 victory over Chamois, finishing the first half of the season at 3-4. After a rough stretch that saw three straight losses following a 2-1 start, the Eagles ended the pre-winter break slate on a high note, heading into roughly three weeks off before returning Jan. 3 for the 7th Annual Battle In Bourbon Invitational.
