Beyond the Ink-
Kyler started with LGI in April of 2023 and officially joined the United Ink crew when we merged later that year. This being his first job in the industry, he’s come a long way in a very short time. Kyler is one of our three employees that traveled to Nashville, TN for 3M Accreditation training and is working towards his own certifications.

His favorite part of the job is the people, and that every day is different. One day he could be working on a vehicle wrap and the next day helping to install a sign 50 ft in the air. His proven versatility has become invaluable—and has even helped him overcome his fear of heights!

If you’ve never had the pleasure of working with Kyler, you may be surprised to learn he can tell a truly entertaining story and is an excellent dancer. He’s addicted to shoes, likes to unwind with video games, and has the most adorable baby boy, Kylian! You should definitely ask him about Malibu’s Most Wanted—he can recite it word-for-word. 🌴

Beyond the Ink-
Lola joined our team as a screen printer in May of 2023. Since then, she has moved into embroidery and become our digitizing queen. Her favorite part of the job is, of course, getting to be creative—so she is constantly crafting new designs and researching new methods. Our current favorite is her rope technique!

When she’s not at work, you can find Lola cuddling her cats or creating badass chalk art at Global Brew. Her impressive art takes a crazy amount of focus and determination—check it out in the comments!

Our sweet Lola is quick with a compliment and has a huge heart (especially where her family and kitties are concerned). Don’t let the sweetness fool you, though. She’s quietly competitive and will definitely beat you in a game of washers. Her guilty pleasures include watermelon Red Bull, horror flicks, and the Twilight Saga. 🍎

Beyond the Ink-
One of Chris’s many mantras is “be hard on the process, not the people.” As an advocate of the lean process, he’s exceptionally proud of the operations we’ve established and the team that has made it all possible. The people and culture here is his favorite part of the job - and not just because we throw a great party!

Chris started doing freelance design work for Sikorski Signs in 2017. Then, together with Matt and Joe, the trio purchased Alternative T’s in 2019, solidifying the dream team that would eventually become United Ink.

He pretends to be a humbug but under the surface Chris is just a big ol’ meatball in a shoebox. He claims his favorite way to unwind is alone by a backyard bonfire but he also puts in countless hours coaching countless sports and helps organize countless events like Ridgestock and the Smithton Haunted Trail.

P.S. He married his beautiful wife Lindsey in Jamaica 19 years ago this week AND…tomorrow is his birthday!! Happy Birth-iversary, Davis!

Beyond the Ink-
If you’ve been in our lobby anytime over the past two years, you’ve had the privilege of admiring Murphey’s craftsmanship. Our beautiful reception desk is our largest single-piece, live-edge custom counter to date. It’s Murphey’s personal favorite project for obvious reasons. We’re continuously impressed by his creativity and attention to detail (down to a 1/32 of an inch).

Murphey joined our team part-time in 2021. He was busy spending the rest of his time pickin’ and-a-strummin’ the banjo, touring the country with his band Old Salt Union. Eventually we were able to bring him on full-time and we’ve been enjoying his pleasantries and delicious corned beef & cabbage ever since. He’s become such an integral part of our crew, we had to make a life-size cut-out to stand in for him when he’s out of the shop.

Next time you run into him, be sure to ask about his bonsai collection or to show off his shadow puppet skills. 😉

Beyond the Ink-
Harry Matt Swank is a man of many names. His dependability and amiable attitude have earned him many loyal customers over the years. We’re just never quite sure what they might call him!

When asked to name a favorite aspect of his job, Swank says, “I just love signs.” And he truly does. He began hand lettering signs when he was about 17 years old, taking on side jobs as often as he could. Matt started with Townhall Sports in 2012 and stayed on to join our team when we merged in 2022. He is always moving, ready to jump in and lend a hand. He knows what needs to be done and makes it happen.

Some of Harry’s favorite projects include stock cars, mini bikes, and boats - we’ll let you decide if he’s working on them or riding in them. Our money is on both. And if the weather is nice, you’re likely to find him cracking a cold one down at Lake of Egypt.
