Remembering Kurt Cobain on his birthday today, he was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, WA. Cobain was the lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana, which also included bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl. After the 1991 release of their hit album 'Nevermind,' Nirvana became one of the most popular bands of the decade.

On February 20, 2014, Aberdeen had its first Kurt Cobain Day.

Happy Birthday to Tony Iommi, born February 19, 1948, in Birmingham, England. He is most famous for starting the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and the only person who has stayed a member since it began in 1968.

In 2003, Iommi was listed at number 86 in Rolling Stone Magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" issue. Along with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Iommi is oft considered one of the greatest riff writers of all time.

Best known as a founding member of Def Leppard, guitarist Pete Willis turns 64 today. He co-wrote many tracks and played guitar on the band's first three albums: On Through the Night, High 'n' Dry, and Pyromania, which was being recorded at the time of his departure.

Willis was fired from Def Leppard in 1982 and replaced by Phil Collen. In 2019, Willis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Def Leppard. However, he did not attend the induction ceremony.

Roger Fisher is a Valentine's baby! Best known as one of the founding members of Heart, Roger Fisher turns 74 today. In 2013 Fisher was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Heart.

Fisher continues his musical career. He has recorded two solo albums and has collaborated with many musicians in the Pacific Northwest, including session/touring percussionist Matthew Burgess.

Happy Birthday to Peter Gabriel, born February 13, 1950 in Surrey, England. He rose to fame as the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis. After leaving Genesis in 1975, he launched a successful solo career with "Solsbury Hill" as his first single.

His fifth studio album, So (1986), is his best-selling release and is certified triple platinum in the UK and five times platinum in the US. Steve Hackett turns 74 today, born February 12, 1950 in London, England. Hackett is a guitarist, songwriter and producer who gained prominence as the lead guitarist of the progressive rock band Genesis from 1971 to 1977. He contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums, seven singles and one EP before he left to pursue a solo career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.
