In the Atlantic:

Hurricane Melissa: Located 155 miles southwest of Kingston, Jamaica. Winds are at 175 mph, central pressure of 909 millibars, moving northwest at 2 mph. People I speak to face to face or online ask me how bad this is, especially after Mitch practically destroyed the island, but you see the movement. There is nothing to move it. It will take the above mentioned mid-latitude cyclone heading into the Tennessee Valley to move this thing. A PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) should have been issued but hasn't since I have been talking about this storm for 8 days.

In the Pacific:

Tropical Storm Sonia: Located 975 miles southwest of the Baja. Winds are at 40 mph, central pressure of 1005 millibars, moving west at 7 mph. Will continue to fall apart dissipating in the next day.

Long Range Models: Low pressure slowly moves off to the northeast keeping us with more clouds then sun and the risk of showers heading into the end of next week.

Tropical Situation:

In the Atlantic:

Tropical Storm Melissa: Located 215 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Winds are at 50 mph, central pressure of 1003 millibars, moving northwest at 5 mph. Hurricane watches are posted for Jamaica as it will likely deepen and strengthen quickly before heading westward with major rainfall for the southern Caribbean.

In the Pacific:

Tropical Wave #1: Located several hundred miles southwest of the southwestern coast of Mexico. Still not looking great and the latest ship report I saw was 1013 millibars so it's struggling. Still expected to develop more as it moves over warm Pacific waters heading into the weekend.

Will update the forecast as needed!

Have a great day everyone!
