This past week, our team Just A Little Dusty #55985 had the amazing opportunity to attend the FIRST Lego League WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Houston, Texas with the best 160 FLL teams from all over the world!! We had so much fun seeing new sights, eating great BBQ (& Vegemite), playing cribbage at the hotel, breaking out of an escape room, meeting so many new people by circulating the pits, cheering on the Robojacks during FRC matches, throwing co****le bags at the park, and giving it our all in both the robot game and judges presentations!
Our robot was getting acclimated to the Texas climate and that was reflected in our scores as we scored 320 first match, 380 our 2nd match and then everything started clicking and we were able to score 510 just as the time ran out on match 3! *545 being the max amount of points that are able to be scored on the table this season.
Luckily they just take your top score out of the three matches, so our team was very happy to end on a high note at the robot table!
This team always makes us proud with their innovation project and robot design presentations to the judges and this time was no exception as they left the judges wanting to keep talking past our Q&A time! The judges were so impressed they even stopped by our pit and also made time to watch our final robot run right on the floor with us!
These kids have worked so hard for the past four years as Squirrel Busters, Keepinโ It Reel, Reef Raisers and finally Just A Little Dusty! The way they demonstrate all of the core values (Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork & Fun) is something thatโs truly special and oh so rare! They really do embody gracious professionalism and we know they will all go on to do amazing things in their careers by making the world a better place!
Many of our team members are in 8th grade, so they are aging out and moving on to focus on FRC bots next year, so this has been a dream come true to end their final season with a trip to Worlds! This wouldnโt have been possible without the outpouring of support from our community, experts, sponsors, parents, volunteers, mentors and coaches that all made this opportunity a reality.
We are so grateful! Thank you all.
