Paying attention to the majors and minors is one of the most important factors to catching pressured Muskies.

We had gone over this spot twice earlier in the afternoon and didn’t move a fish. Went over the spot at moon rise and caught two in 10 casts!

There are a lot of apps out there that track moon phases. We use a free app called fishing&hunting Solunar Time and it’s worked good for us!

Catching muskies is awesome…..catching them in a tourney is another level! First cast on the second spot of tourney day!!!

This stuff gets us jacked up! If you don’t get excited why do it?!!

Unreal watching a fish come from straight underneath the pacemaker and Free W***y it!!

September is arguably the best month for topwater! When the temps start dropping the shallower the fish push and opens up an amazing bite on top! Make sure to check shallow sand, rocks and weeds!

Time out of water for Muskies is very crucial.

We have found that recording a video while pulling them out of the net, a quick pause with the fish horizontally and a smile so you can screenshot a picture later, and than back in the water has been the best option for least amount of time out of the water!

It’s also cool because it gives you the option to screenshot shot some really cool angles of the Muskies back and head and it’s all done within 20-30 seconds!

This works really good solo as well!

There’s fishing tournaments…….and then there’s the Max Multi-Species Fishing Derby!!

This tournament is so much more than a bunch of teams competing for a check. This tourney is a group of friends and family coming together to remember a young man that was loved everywhere he went. It’s a chance to celebrate and cherish who he was and what he believed in. It’s an awesome fundraiser to help those in a tough spot! In this tourney you come as teams and leave as family!

We had an awesome time as always on the water and came so close to defending the title but we came up a musky short this time. Huge shoutout to the new champs Gram and Adam and all the teams as records were broken and a lot of fish were measured!

One of the coolest parts of this tourney is all the different compositions of teams! Father sons, mother daughters, husband wife, kids, family and friends! That’s what makes it so special!

Best run tourney out there!! Can’t wait for 2027!!

You ever get a bucktail that seems to get bit a lot more than others? Our theory is sound and vibration are more important than color. We do believe that color plays a factor but here are a few things that we do when we get a new bucktail that seems to work:

Throw it behind the boat and troll it fast for a little bit and break it in.

We bend it a few different directions as if it had been eaten by a fish. We do this a few different times until we feel a stronger vibration/grind when you throw it!

And lastly confidence is key when it comes to throwing any bait! If you feel it use it!

Some of the best bites happen during a rain storm!! In this case, the harder it rained the harder they bit!!

The weather had these fished pushed ultra shallow (2’-3’) and very bitey!! 9 bites and 8 of them came within the first few cranks of the reel! Fun stuff!

The second stop of our Anniversary trip brought us to Legacy Outposts on Lac Seul…one of our favorite places ever!

Not only does it have the prettiest scenery and the coolest Muskies on planet earth but heading miles and miles up the lake getting farther and farther away from reality is such a soul healing feeling. Just two best friends doing what we love where we love!!

The temperatures dropped hard into the 40’s the day we arrived and the first day we struggled thinking the fish may have shut down. Later that afternoon we decided to change our patterns and come to find out the fish were far from shut down in fact the exact opposite just using different structure. Once we made the adjustment it was game on and man were they crunching non other than MuskyFrenzy Lures 8/9!

As every musky trip is, this one was filled with a lot of very high highs (Ashley caught her second fish over 50 of the trip and man was it a slob) and some low lows (Ashley loosing an even bigger giant right at the net). That’s what keeps you coming back for more!

Another trip has come and gone with more lifelong memories, our hearts full and another blessed anniversary trip! Already looking forward to next year!!
