Big news that we’re really excited about!

For the past five years, we have been fine-tuning the class structures of the Cor PowerSports Race Series, closely tracking entry numbers and participation trends to discover which events and machines truly ignite our competitors’ passion.

Participation in our Vintage (’84 and older) class has noticeably dwindled. Past racers often mention that parts are hard to find and that the few remaining machines are now prized treasures, too pristine for the track. This prompted us to explore new possibilities for these dedicated enthusiasts.

After much discussion, we have decided that the Vintage class will not return for the 2027 Cor PowerSports Race Series. In its place, we are thrilled to unveil the new Retro class. Lately, Pro and Semi Pro racers have been embracing throwback graphics on their sleds, the Classic class (’04 and older) is drawing more competitors, and the Retro movement is picking up speed throughout the industry.

The 2027 Retro class will mirror the Classic class rules, with one key twist: only snowmobiles from model year 1994 or earlier will be eligible to compete.

Class rules for Retro class will be:

- Production snowmobiles 1994 Model year and older
- Must follow all Improved Stock XC class rules
- Rider must be 14 years of age or older
- Maximum engine displacement is 700cc & under (era specific)

The 1990s brought more than just big hair and bold colors—they ushered in what many call the Golden Era of snowmobile racing. This was a time of roaring triple-cylinder engines, eye-catching neon sleds, and the rise of legendary cross-country events. Manufacturers like Polaris, Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, and Yamaha pushed the limits of speed and suspension, transforming snowmobiles from leaf-spring relics into the high-travel, long-track machines we know today.

This change opens the door to a fresh, affordable entry-level class for aspiring racers. With both Retro and Classic classes available, competitors now have double the chances to bring their beloved older machines back to the track.

The last race of the year was in Houghton, MI, and what a beautiful place to race! The course was awesome, but extremely rough riding, this old sled really had no business trying to go fast over the massive ruts and moguls, but we did it anyway, took a minor spill and held on for dear life the rest of the way and the sled finished in one piece. It was a very memorable end to an awesome season of racing!

Griffin’s last race of the season in Grand Rapids, he had a lot of fun and was supported by a ton of family, we couldn’t ask for more out of a weekend! He’s made so much progress this year and all he wants to do is ride more!

Another great weekend of racing! We were in Walker for the Leech Lake 200 again racing in the vintage class. The sled put up with the rough spots on the course and ran great! There’s such an awesome community of racers at these events

I grabbed the tractor and scraped together what snow I could and built our own race track at home, here is Griffin putting in some laps!

We had another great day of racing on Sunday, this time the weather was a lot nicer! Griffin is gaining so much confidence on his sled, and he got to race with his good buddy Hudson again!

This weekend was spent racing in Park Rapids for the Heartland 200 cross country race in the vintage class. It was so cold, and my only goal was to finish the race with the sled running. Despite having almost no testing time on a new engine and new brake setup, the sled ran great and had no issues!

Griffin had his first race today! He did great despite the extreme cold, he even got to race with his good buddy Hudson!

Griffin’s first race is tomorrow, here he is putting some practice laps in today. He rolled his sled and fell off in the first session and was pretty shaken up, but we regrouped and made it out for the second session and put in a few good laps! He even fell off again but got right back on and finished the lap!

We picked up a couple new sleds in the last week, a 1982 Polaris TXL 340 and a 1998 Polaris XC 600! The TXL will be the back up for vintage races and the XC will be for 600 classes. Looking forward to getting some seat time on these!
