We have been approached by researchers at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK who are investigating ultra-runners’ training characteristics and preparation strategies, including nutritional and specialist training methods (e.g. heat acclimation) ahead of an ultra-endurance event.
The study team are asking ultra-runners to complete two surveys to understand their knowledge, beliefs and approaches to races in hot conditions and heat mitigation strategies:
The first will ask you about your ultra-running experience, upcoming race, and knowledge and beliefs around heat mitigation strategies and can be found here:
https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/angliaruskin/heat-mitigation-in-ultra-running-pre-race-survey
The second survey shortly after the ultra-endurance race (within 7 days of race completion) will ask you about your experiences during the race.
The team are keen to hear from participants across a broad range of races (single and multi stage, desert, mountain etc) especially, but not limited to, those in hot conditions like Badwater, Western States, Namib, as well as races that may take place in hot conditions but aren't traditionally 'hot' races, such as the North Downs Way 100 in the UK summer
