Sweet Cassie 🤍
Saying “see-ya-later” to a herd member is always bittersweet. This Thoroughbred girl has been part of our herd since February, and today she headed off to her well-deserved retirement home.
She came into my life during the final stretch of school and gave us a lot during that season. So grateful for the time we shared.
Endless thanks to her owner, , for trusting me with Cassie, and for becoming such a wonderful client and friend🥹❤️

Taking a short pause as I head south to be with family for a bit. I sent my training ponies home so I could make the trip, any lessons and training are on hold for now.
I’m not sure when I’ll be back just yet, but I’ll share updates as soon as I know more.
I’ll still be on my phone, so if you need something or want to talk about lessons or training, you can message me here or email me at [email protected]. I really appreciate this community’s understanding and support always. 🤍

What stood out to me most on yesterday’s ride was how important patience, breath, presence, and awareness really are on the trail & in life🍂🌲
This was Chippy’s ride that wrapped up his time in training with me for now, and I’ve had so much fun with this little horse. He’s a challenge in all the best ways, too smart for his own good, and one who really benefits from slowing down, waiting, and learning that it’s okay to take a break (as if I didn’t need more reminders of that lesson myself 🤪).
As we made our way through the lines, icy puddles, and leftover snow from last week’s storms, I found myself breathing in the thick scent of wet earth and reflecting on how each of the horses on this ride had spent time with me in training — and the same goes for their people.
There’s nothing that makes me feel more proud of my work than watching the time, patience, and consistency of relational horsemanship pay off in such real, quiet ways.
Foundational groundwork doesn’t stop when we leave the arena. It’s in every inhale, every patient pause, and every small choice to come back to the trails together🤍

I realized I never gave this spotted guy an official introduction! Everyone, meet Chip✨
He’s a 6-year-old registered Appaloosa gelding here for a month of training. His owners reached out after experiencing some tough moments out on the trail, and I’m so glad they did.
Chip came to me with a solid groundwork foundation and was mostly comfortable in the arena. Some longer, more challenging trail rides showed his owners where he still needed comfort and confidence, which is completely normal for a young horse learning to navigate new environments.
We’ve been focusing on helping him regulate when he gets worried, better understand bit pressure, and increase lateral softness, all while working to find relaxation both solo (away from the barn 🤪) and with other horses. This week, I’ve also been gradually integrating more trail time with other horses so he can learn spacing and be ok when in different ride positions on the trail.
We’ve adjusted his saddle and bridle fit, built a consistent routine, and layered in lessons with his owners. I’ve also started a shared album with them so they can follow along with rides and sessions, keeping them involved and connected to his progress!
I’ve really enjoyed working with this lil spotted Appy, he’s challenged me to truly listen to what he’s telling me and meet him where he’s at. Communicating effectively with his owners while teaching exercises I don’t often teach others has been such a rewarding part of this process. 🤎

Continuing to show up for the younger versions of me, the ones who dreamed of wide-open horizons, wind in their hair, and conversations only horses could understand. 🐎🌿
She believed that healing could happen in the quiet, between heartbeats, hoofbeats, and in the stillness of nature. And somehow, that truth has only deepened with time.
Here’s to honoring the dreams that never really left us… only waiting for us to grow into them. 🌬️❤️

30 days in ✨
Today marks Tayler and Rou’s first month here at GWC, and these two have done so much together already. From finding softness on the rope, getting in/out of the trailer, and learning new cues, to tarps, flags, bridges, and water crossings!
Every day has built more trust and understanding between them. And honestly… so. much. ponying. 🐴😂
Miles and miles of it, behind Warrior, through the trees, across water, up and down hills, building Rou’s confidence one step at a time until he was ready to take the lead himself.
He’s now hauling out with ease, beginning to ride out solo around the property with quiet confidence, and continuing to grow with every session. So proud of this little horse and of Tayler for showing up, asking for help, and trusting the process. Yesterday they embarked on their first real ride off property where Roy was ridden out start-finish.
We’ll keep chipping away at things as we head into the holidays, but I couldn’t be happier with where they are after this first 30 days and just HAD to highlight that here🫶🏻🤍

Yesterday I found myself to be pretty emotional. I went out into the field, and as soon as Warrior felt my presence, he walked over and rested his head on my shoulder, letting me cry into his mane.
Horses have the largest hearts of any land mammal, and their electromagnetic field is about five times larger than ours. Research from HeartMath Institute shows that our heart rhythms can sync with theirs, creating a sense of calm and connection.
Warrior is special that way, he just knows when someone needs grounding and isn’t scared off by chaotic energy (Roog on the other hand made his way to the other end of the field🤣)
Once I started to settle, he quietly walked away. I then went to sit under a tree, and almost immediately Juni came to stand over me, her head low, watching as if to make sure I was okay.
When Sundance tried to join, Juni instantly moved her off, then came back and settled next to me again.
Moments like these remind me why I fell in love with these animals and this type of experiential healing work in the first place.
Sometimes healing doesn’t look like doing anything, it’s just presence, breath, and the steady rhythm of a horse’s heart.
Have you heard of HeartMath before? I’d love to know!❤️⬇️

genuinely what goes through my head on a colt’s first trail ride 👀
that first ride out is such a big step, it’s where all the preparation, groundwork, and ponying finally meets the real world.
I was glad to have .baer & Warrior to lead today, since keeping things familiar and staying with the confident & familiar horse offers that steady support they’ve come to trust.
It’s also clear that those who worked with him before put in the time to expose him to so much, this little horse is such a neat representation of the Oregon Mustangs! 🤎🐴🌲
