Herald-Advocate The Herald-Advocate newspaper has served Marlboro County since 1874. We publish every Thursday. In 1931, the late Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Kinney, Sr. G. In 1972, Wm. L.

The Herald-Advocate’s predecessor, The Farmers Friend, was first
published here in 1874. In 1879 it became The Marlboro Planter, which later became The
Marlboro Democrat. In 1885 The Pee Dee Advocate was established
and in 1908 The Marlboro Democrat was combined with it. began the Marlboro
County Herald, which continued until they purchased The Pee Dee
Advocate from W. Hazel in 1951 and combined i

t with the
Herald to form the Marlboro Herald-Advocate. Kinney, Jr., editor-publisher, purchased his parents’ interest. In 2014, Elisabeth Kinney McNiel and her husband Danny purchased the paper from her father, renaming the publication Herald-Advocate. An inmate at the Marlboro County Detention Center has been charged with second-degree assault and battery on a corrections officer. Jonathan "Rambo" Pearce utilized a cup to urinate in and subsequently threw the urine, striking the officer in the face while the officer was performing duties in the pod where Pearce was housed. The officer required medical attention. Pearce will have bond set at a later time. This case is being handled by Lt. Williams.

We also have special music provided by Olivia Emmanuel. She has an incredible voice and will surely bless us with her God given talent.

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians. Below you will see an updated flyer regarding registration for the upcoming school year. Please pay close attention to the date changes. ALL students must be registered for the 2025-2026 school year. For those that have already registered, students will receive their schedule, complete additional paperwork, speak with administration and more on these days. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing our rising 9th and 10th graders Thursday, and our rising 11th and 12th graders Friday.
