Now broadcasting on a.m. 1370 for 72 years and FM 96.5 since May 2021, WBTN has been an anchor for the Bennington community since September 1953. It’s one of the oldest continuously broadcasting stations in the state. We have been a voice for the community, and the individual, to talk about anything in life that interests them.
Incurring some bumps along way over the years and trying some different formats, we have had a variety of programming. Now, having New Country hits, we have hour blocks of Classic rock, oldies, one hit wonders, music from the 60s to today. Talk shows like Cannabis Talk, Forensic Talk, Dining Out, sports, and gardening, we have a little something for everyone. We are the tri-states Home to weekly NASCAR Cup races on the radio, and also bring you home repairs to car repair shows, that are new every week!!! We’re back to having a variety of programming. We Bring you new regional world news at the top of every hour and up to the minute information you can hear live and local. Digital radio is out there, but there’s nothing like hearing it on the live radio!!!
Times have changed, media outlets have changed, but our commitment to staying local, has been honored and is our number one priority. When Covid hit 5 years ago, we had daily updates from local and state officials in Montpelier, about current rules and regulations. When everybody was home and not able to go anywhere, we stayed on the air, LIVE, every single day to bring you the latest up-to-date information. We were here to support and enhance the life of everybody in our community, and beyond. Not only with news, but entertainment you can interact with, you can’t get that on your digital device!! Now, after Covid, the world has changed, and everything is taken a hit. Jobs were lost, businesses closed, and employers can’t find workers. The struggle is real. A number of our longtime sponsors and underwriters have had to cut back, or worse, gone out of business. WBTN is still here! WBTN has been fully volunteer for over seven years!!! 100% of the daily efforts, programming, and live shows, is volunteer. The people on our shows love being on the radio. And ideas for new shows are welcome every day.
Our core group of individuals has stayed true to keeping this radio station here in Bennington, alive and well. But we can’t do it without the support of the community and YOU. Underwriting only pays a small portion of what it takes to operate the Station. Electricity to run the transmitters, Automation Systems, and tower lights, along with insurances and royalty companies, add up. We as a community, need to keep the Station, because once we lose it, there’s no getting it back. It’s one of the oldest continuously broadcasting A.M. stations in the state, and after getting FM license in 2018 and going on the air in May 2021, makes us one of the newest FM stations. It is a huge deal that we were able to get on the FM dial for a local area. We are also streaming worldwide so you can take WBTN with you wherever you go!! We’re streaming to many different countries and around the world on a daily basis. Daily listenership that stretches from Maine to Florida, and weekly shows listened to regularly in New York, Colorado, Arizona, and Brazil!!
