During WWII, over 31,000 civilians of Japanese, German, and Italian ancestry—including many kidnapped from Latin America—were imprisoned by the U.S. government as so-called “enemy aliens.” Their only “crime”? Their ancestry.
Now, nearly 80 years later, the Alien Enemies Act of 1798—the same law used to justify their imprisonment—is being revived by the current administration to target immigrants once again.
🎥 Ancestry on Trial is a new documentary that uncovers this buried history and follows survivors and their descendants—some of whom are still alive today—as they fight for long-overdue justice and work in solidarity with migrant rights and civil liberties groups resisting these renewed attacks.
📣 We need your support to finish this film and bring it to communities, classrooms, and policymakers.
