Ayahuasca is being explored by the nascent psychedelic industry, but what’s in it for the Native populations who created the medicine?

Archive series: we continue our focus on the late Richard Lewontin with his 1988 piece about testifying in a lawsuit against the University of California regarding its agricultural research practices. Check out "Science for the People in Action" on p. 6-7.

The case brought against UC's Agricultural Experiment Station contended that researchers there failed to consider how their work would affect small family farmers. Here Lewontin describes the explicit anti-labor bias of many of the scientists revealed by court documents.
