The East Bay has a rich literary history—especially the hills. From literary giants such as Joaquin Miller, Jack London, and California’s first poet laureate, Ina Coolbrith, to today’s California Writers Club, the hillsides of Berkeley, Oakland, and Montclair have provided inspiration and a quiet place to write for thousands of writers for more than 150 years.
So we’re trying something new this month: a sort of “double album” issue featuring the “hillside authors” and their books who’ve appeared in Berkeley Hills Living and Montclair Living over the past few years. Enjoy, and support our local hillside writers, the latest in a long and distinguished tradition.
