Friends, supporters, this is a plea.
It costs us a minimum of $900 for each issue of our magazines. We are about $870 short of that as of today.
Please share this fundraising link and give what you can.
Even $15 will pay one poet.
$40 will cover the writers and the accompanying art.
$50 will pay for cover art and it will also support one of our hard working editors with an honorarium.
$100-$400 will pay for the web team's work
$300-400 will pay our web hosting and domain fees.
and... lest we forget: $150 will pay the accountant at the end of our fiscal year and keep the state of CA and the IRS happy with us.
Thank you, All of us.
Be a part of the magic. We couldn't do this without you.

Le Chat Noir: Alternative Histories … With Cats.

In history, be it in the wild or content in our houses, Panthera or Felinae, felis domesticus or the ancestor of the tabby on your couch, Proailurus, cats have had a unique place. Loved, adored, worshiped, cherished and hated, feared and persecuted in equal measure we dedicate this issue to The Cat.

Premise: In an alternate world, Le Chat Noir at 84 Boulevard de Rochechouart is presided over by Madame La Ch**te and Les Hydropathes, who eschew water for wine and advocate their sociopolitical and aesthetic agendas.

The patrons come through a secret door on the Seine from places and times where history has run very differently, all because of a Cat. What tales do the patrons of this establishment bring? What secrets are shared between the numbers by the chanteuse of the evening and, especially, when the night grows old and even Paris sleeps? What empires have risen and fallen because of the whispers shared in the darkened corners of the Cabaret between worlds and at the edge of time?

It is here that Rodolphe Salis plays the role of conférencier expounding upon the philosophy of le Salon des Arts Incohérents.

It is here that the Les Dames Folles des Chats sip absinthe and plot revolution.

Madame La Ch**te, herself, looks on all with wry amusement and a feline twitch of an ear and a gallic shrug as she grooms her luxurious coat of fur.

The journals we publish are in need of a web-designer. We have had many queries, but the skill set is specific and we cannot do our work without you. Please contact us at [email protected]
This is a web design position. Having a graphics and arts background will help, but the primary skill will be web design. Only rarely will you be asked for original art and only on a case-by-case basis.
Some knowledge of publishing and the challenges of independent publishing will be very helpful.
This is not a developer or admin or admin position, there is someone in place with those skills.
While we have a proofreader, you might be also asked to do maintenance in the individual issues upon occasion and keep an eye on how the site is behaving.
You will be a valued and supported member of our project, respected as an artist in your own right.
Being comfortable with electronic methods of communication and attending meetings via Zoom (as needed) and including a yearly editorial meeting.
There is an honorarium attached to this position per issue, upon completion of the work.
