In honor and in continued celebration of Black History Month, we are proud to reflect on the works of Jordon L. Stanley. "On Earth As It Is In Water: poems" is the second book of poetry by Jordon, a talented musician and poet. He studied Music Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and released an album titled "Creative Sessions Vol. 1." Additionally, Jordon has passed along his knowledge and skills as a music educator for more than a decade. We were delighted to publish his first collection of poetry titled "Poems From A Poem" in 2019. That's when we got to know Jordon as an exceptional man, musician, and poet!

In honor and in celebration of Black History Month, we are proud to share this incredible four volume series by Dr. Clara L. Small. "Compass Points: Profiles & Biographies of African Americans from the Delmarva Peninsula" narrates the stories of more than 250 Black Americans on or from Delmarva who have made important contributions to our society; this work is the culmination of decades of research and study by Dr. Small, a prominent and well-respected author and historian. She spent more than forty years teaching history at Salisbury University and also at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Now, she spends her time collecting and preserving Black history on Delmarva and we are proud beyond measure to her publisher of choice. From a desperate escape plan inside the old Salisbury jail to the devastating fallout that gripped the community, Fowler traces the crime, the history behind it, and the ghosts that still linger. She even brings a personal tie; her own grandfather was the first deputy on scene that night.

The 3rd Annual Berlin Book Fest was a great success this past weekend! We are thrilled to announce that two of our authors won awards! Andrew Heller's "The Ondines of French Camp" won for Adult Fiction and Dr. Clara L. Small's "Compass Points Volume 4" won for Adult Nonfiction. Winning the category of Young Adult Fiction was Liz DeJesus of Byzantium Sky Press with her novel, "Glass Frost." Byzantium Sky Press is run by our dear friend, Crystal Heidel, and features a number of incredible books by women authors. Our good friend, Ron Sauder of Secant Publishing was also at the book festival with Barbara Lockhart, debuting her new nonfiction book "Half Pass Six," which is sure to win a number of awards in the months ahead. Last week, one of our authors embraced the future of scholarly communication in a big way! Connecting with scholars and conservationists around the world, Dr. Benjamin Beck presented virtually at the 43rd annual meeting of the Mexican Association of Zoos, Breeding Centers and Aquaria in Guadalajara, Mexico

Speaking from his home in Berlin, Maryland, Ben shared his groundbreaking conservation research on chimpanzees in Rwanda and golden lion tamarins in Brazil. This 45-minute virtual talk showcased the power of technology to overcome borders, with English slides expertly translated into Spanish for the international audience. The format saved both cost and environmental impact while delivering valuable content directly to the community.

We're especially excited about one feature of this event: the ability to offer attendees a free ebook download of "Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation of Golden Lion Tamarins" written by Ben Beck and Andy Baker via a simple QR code.
