This photo by Jim Mathis captures blues legend John Lee Ho**er (1917-2001) performing at the 1973 Ozark Mountain FolkFair, just north of Eureka Springs. His young drummer friend is Albert Skiles, our next confirmed local celebrity judge for the lipsync competition happening at the "Longhair Invasion" museum fundraiser on Aug 8. Albert is a renowned photographer and architect who also designed the original Folkfair logo and amphitheater for festival organzier Edd Jeffords. His payment? An opportunity to play drums for the legendary John Lee Ho**er!

Albert has performed with many bands since that time, including The Uncalled Four, Full-Treatment Jazz Band, Sam Routh, OverEasy, Mike Alexander, Space Vegetables, Al Gibson, Chris Brothers, and more. Albert will also be presenting a wonderful exhibit of his original photos from the 1973 Ozark Mountain FolkFair at our upcoming event, offering a rare glimpse into this once-in-a-lifetime festival that drew more than 30,000 attendees.
