PC has great programs
✈️🌟Congratulations to Xochitl Santiago, the ODAA Student of the Month for November 2025! Xochitl is a junior at Putnam City West High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is a member of the Putnam City Aviation program and the Putnam City West Army JROTC where she serves as a Platoon Sergeant and member of the color guard. Xochitl was nominated for her remarkable personal growth, professionalism, and dedication to aviation. In both programs, she continues to grow as a leader and to demonstrate her commitment to service and discipline, overseeing the well-being of her fellow cadets, helping them balance their academic, physical, and mental health while fostering clear communication and teamwork.
This summer, Xochitl applied for and was selected for one of only three new student intern positions at AAR Corp, working as an Aircraft Mechanic Intern. While initially uncertain of what to expect, she quickly discovered a passion for hands-on work—especially the more demanding tasks like interior removal and structural work. Her positive attitude, willingness to learn, and work ethic stood out, making her an excellent ambassador for Putnam City Aviation, and a powerful representative for the Latina community with the aviation/aerospace industry.
✈️🌟After high school, Xochitl plans to enlist in the Marine Corps to work on their fixed wing fighter aircraft. In her downtime, Xochitl enjoys drawing, walking, and spending time with family and friends. Her guiding principle in life is reflected in her favorite verse, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you" (Luke 6:31), which underscores her commitment to kindness, empathy, and service to others.
✈️🌟In nominating Xochitl, her aviation teacher, Sam Madewell, noted: “Since joining our program two years ago, Xochitl’s passion has grown tremendously. Eager to expand her knowledge about all aspects of the industry, this year she enrolled in our Avionics course, further demonstrating her initiative and commitment to mastering the industry from multiple angles. She embraces every challenge with enthusiasm, actively seeks growth opportunities, and consistently sets an example for others to follow. Xochitl embodies the spirit of a growth mindset and represents the future of a strong, diverse aviation workforce. We are proud to recognize her for her personal and professional development.”
✈️🌟We couldn’t agree more! Congratulations, Xochitl! The Oklahoma aerospace community salutes you! Way to fly!
