Before the cannabis industry came into being in Arkansas there was all of us fighting to make it happen. Our community (and others like ours) were educating about cannabis, working to break the stigma, and making the moves on behalf of our plant. We held Fayetteville’s very first Four Twenty festival, “The Green Heart Festival”. Mayor Jordan and Mark Kinion declared it “Green Heart Day” and Mark gave us a proclamation (pic is somewhere!) News Outlets all reported about it, wrote about it, and attended the event. We gathered- our community- bringing together music, art, wellness and plants. The Green Heart Festival was created by Wendy Love Edge and Trisha Guting via Bulldozer Health along with a host of volunteers with great community support. It was created out of love and we are so proud to say we did it!! From the fantastic music to the art, vendors, joint rolling contest and lighting- it was a site to behold. We shut down Center St in Fayetteville and erected a stage and lighting and fu***ng created a vibe that everyone who attended will never forget. So enjoy the holiday, light up, and if you were there, smile and enjoy the beautiful memory. For the people, by the people. We are warriors for the plant the always belonged to us. We will be back with our festival one day. We the people created it, and can easily do it again with the same passion and community commitment - Not just for money- but for the joy of the celebration and the empowerment that goes with that to, and of course fundraising for plant prisoners, ongoing activism, and funds to help folks get the cannabis recommendations and medicine they need.
Because legalization does not equal access for everyone. Either way, there’s always still work to do, and we are ready to do it. Perhaps next year💚
