Love them or Hate them!! What a 7th game to win it!!
Say hello to baseball’s newest Evil Empire 😈
The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team to repeat as World Series champions since the 1999-2000 New York Yankees, and the respective eras of the two storied franchises couldn’t be more similar.
THEY SPEND A LOT.
George Steinbrenner, the owner of the Yankees at the time, was known for his “win at all costs” approach, with the hopes of attracting the best talent to New York as much as possible.
The Guggenheim Group, since taking ownership of the Dodgers, has done a great job of maximizing the resources available to them, from scouting, to player development, to facilities, and coaching.
Both the Yankees and Dodgers rank among baseball’s highest team payrolls in their respective eras.
THEY WIN A LOT.
The Yankees were arguably the team of the 90s, winning the World Series in 1996, 1998, and 1999.
The Dodgers are making their mark this decade, taking home the Commissioner’s Trophy in 2020, 2024, and 2025.
AND FANS OF OTHER TEAMS COMPLAIN A LOT.
Of course, the Yankees’ and Dodgers’ success has drawn the ire of other teams’ supporters, claiming both teams “buy their way to championships” and that New York and Los Angeles are “ruining baseball” with their approach.
However, Yankees and Dodgers fans will tell you that they would rather have their team spend to the fullest than go cheap.
Nevertheless, the Dodgers will continue to enjoy the services of Shohei Ohtani until 2033.
LA’s veteran offensive core of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez will remain intact.
The Dodgers’ Japanese pitching phenoms, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki, will be here for a while.
And their owners, as we know by now, will stop at nothing for baseball superiority.
Looks like the Dodgers will be a problem for the foreseeable future 👀
