We would like to issue a correction for our Charity Spotlight that was featured in the October Issue:
For the second year, the town of Bethel, Connecticut, honors veterans and supports military families through the Folds of Honor Veteran’s Day 5K. The race is held at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center and will take place November 1st at 8:30am. This race serves as both a meaningful tribute and a vibrant community gathering.
The race benefits Folds of Honor, a nonprofit founded in 2007 by Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, dedicated to providing scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled service members. Bethel’s local 5K Veteran's Day Race effortlessly channels that mission through movement, memory, and generous participation.
Bethel’s race thrives thanks to passionate volunteers—especially the women behind the scenes. Kristina Korin and Kathleen Cavicchia-LaDore, spend the year organizing sponsorships, logistics, and outreach to ensure that each year’s run is seamlessly organized and fully supported.
Across town, local supporters and groups also rally—forming teams, raising donations, and encouraging friends and families to run in solidarity with the cause. The race itself is infused with warmth: participants of all ages, first responders, veterans, and neighbors come together, followed by post-race celebrations aimed at strengthening bonds while honoring sacrifice.
In Bethel, the Folds of Honor Veteran’s Day 5K is more than a race. It’s an enduring expression of unity, respect, and support—powered in no small part by the leadership and dedication of Kristina Korin, Kathleen Cavicchia-LaDore, and a community that shows up, runs hard, and cares deeply.
