Six teams converged in Bethel’s sand pit last weekend for the Bethel Volunteer Emergency Services Association’s annual mud volleyball tournament and fundraiser. Teams bumped, set, and spiked through rain and shine until one team reigned victorious: Run VLB, followed by runners-up Hit Faced. Rounding out the top three was team Kiss My Ace.

Naneng’s former boyfriend, 24-year-old Edward Atcherian, has been charged with second-degree murder for Naneng’s death and is currently being held at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

The City of Bethel will be closing sections of Ptarmigan Street to install culverts at two locations.

The first closure will be west of Lulu Heron with closures expected July 20th through August 24th.

The second closure will be east of Uivuq Subdivision, with closures expected August 25 through September 30.

The installs will require full closure of the area indicated, no through traffic of any kind will be available.

We understand the closures will impact our residents. Thank you for your understanding as we take measures to protect this critical roadway.
