Apparent Targeted Kidnapping In Danbury Foiled

Danbury Police report that on Sunday, August 25th at 5:40 p.m., they were dispatched to the area of Clapboard Ridge Road near Dogwood Lane for a disturbance. Upon arrival a witness stated that three males exited a van, began assaulting another man, pushed him into the van, and fled. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle on Clapboard Ridge Road and attempted to stop it, but the driver sped away. The suspect vehicle was located a short distance away on Cowperthwaite Street. Officers found two victims inside the van. Both victims were reportedly bound with duct tape and one had been assaulted with a baseball bat. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. Police report that the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Police also report that witnesses stated that six suspects left the Cowperthwaite Street area on foot. Patrol officers immediately began a search of the area and four of the suspects were quickly taken into custody. Three officers suffered non-life threatening injuries during the search and apprehensions. Further investigation led to the apprehension of the other two suspects at a short-term rental home in Roxbury.
The six suspects are facing several charges including 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Kidnapping, and Reckless Endangerment. All six suspects are reported to be residents of Florida and have been identified as Angel Borrero, 23, Reynaldo Diaz, 22, Anthony Pena, 23, Josue Romero, 26, Ricardo Estrada, 21, and Michael Rivas, 18.

How to Self Report Storm Damage

The CT Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DESPP/DEMHS) is undertaking the initial damage assessment survey from the heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding that occurred between the dates of August 18th and August 19th. It is crucial to promptly assess the extent of the damages and gather the necessary information to determine if thresholds and criteria are met to be considered under the FEMA Individual Assistance program and/or Small Business Administration (SBA) programs.

To streamline the data collection process and ensure accurate and efficient reporting, the State of CT has created a dedicated public self-reporting link for the public to report damages to homes and businesses. This portal will enable them to gather comprehensive information regarding the damages incurred and identify areas where to direct damage assessment teams. This information will still need to be verified through a potential joint preliminary damage assessment in the weeks to come.

The residential and business self-reporting link is
