Two kids. Two completely different nervous systems. 🌊⚡
Ace is a warrior — his stress goes OUT.
Jay is an antenna — his stress goes IN.
Same love, totally different calm-down playbook.
If you're raising a WARRIOR (spirited, explosive, fights the stress):
His body needs to discharge before it can regulate. Don't ask him to "calm down" — give the energy somewhere to go.
1️⃣ Match his intensity first. Low, strong voice: "That's a BIG mad. I can handle it."
2️⃣ Offer movement, not stillness — push the wall, stomp, squeeze your hands as hard as he can
3️⃣ Stay physically close but don't crowd. Warriors need to know you're not scared of them.
4️⃣ Talk AFTER the storm, never during. His thinking brain is offline mid-meltdown.
5️⃣ Reconnect with strength-based repair: "Your big feelings are safe with me."
If you're raising an ANTENNA (sensitive, absorbs everything, shuts down):
His body isn't exploding — it's flooding. He picked up the room's stress and now it's living in him.
1️⃣ Lower ALL the input first — lights, voice, questions. One quiet adult, not three helpers.
2️⃣ Regulate YOU. He's reading your nervous system before your words.
3️⃣ Offer deep pressure — a long hug, heavy blanket, sitting with your arm around him
4️⃣ Name it gently: "You felt all of that, didn't you. That's a lot to carry."
5️⃣ Give him an exit ramp, not a spotlight. Sensitive kids recover in low-stimulation, not in conversation.
The warrior needs you to be a container. The antenna needs you to be a filter.
Neither one is misbehaving. Both are asking: "Can you handle my nervous system until I can?"
