Crys Matthews and I wrote this song in our dining room. I was the engineer and the producer, a first for me, but I channeled all the women in the industry who were ignored and told to sit down because they had a place in this industry and it’s not in the producer’s chair. I did it. I almost tore all my hair out, and Crys and Rah almost left me but I did it and it was exhilarating and I feel like a badass.
Andrew Scott Bell, my friend and wicked talented composer in LA, laid strings on it in his home studio. I gave him one direction: “Make the strings just as beautiful as the ones you wrote for “You Are My Favorite”. Dear Goddess, did he accomplish that.
Then we sent everything off to Mark Williams (Sucker Punch Recording Co.), producer of my albums GLIMMER and I AM ENOUGH, and Crys’s albums IMAGINEERS and BATTLE HYMN. He edited and mixed it for us in his studio in Maryland.
