The Allentown Environmental Advisory Council will hold a virtual meeting on June 1st @5:30PM
about a proposed Data Center in Southside Allentown (2401 W. Emmaus Ave.)
WHAT DO DATA CENTERS DO TO THE ENVIRONMENT:
- massive freshwater depletion for cooling
- severe air and noise pollution from power plants and backup generators
- heavy carbon emissions from continuous fossil-fuel reliance
Not only will a Data Center effect the environmental well being of Allentown, which the The American Lung Association rated an “F” for daily particle pollution, but it also will directly effect the utility bills of residents. In States like Virginia, where there’s an abundance of Data Centers, utility bills have jumped ~267%.
