⚠️✅ Confirmed — NWS State College has released the damage-survey results. The 9:15 PM EDT Friday, August 21 Public Information Statement confirms two separate tornadoes, not one continuous tornado crossing the Susquehanna.

❇️ Columbia, Lancaster County: EF1 — estimated peak winds 100 mph, maximum width 100 yards, path length 1.47 miles. It touched down at approximately 4:30 PM near Walnut Street and 4th Street in Columbia (40.0343, -76.5015), traveled southeast through town, crossed the Columbia Reading Railway and Blue Lane, and lifted before reaching Richland Drive at approximately 4:32 PM (40.0180, -76.4838). There were no reported injuries or fatalities. NWS documented roofs torn off, a second-story brick wall knocked down, collapsed outbuildings, and numerous snapped/uprooted trees.

❇️ Eastern York County/Wrightsville: EF2 — estimated peak winds 120 mph, maximum width 100 yards, path length 1.07 miles. It was on the ground from approximately 4:24–4:26 PM, beginning 2 SSW of Wrightsville and lifting 2 SSE of Wrightsville. The most significant damage occurred at Eastern York High School, where roofs were ripped from multiple classrooms. One injury and no fatalities were reported.

✅ Most importantly: the Wrightsville EF2 did NOT cross the Susquehanna into Columbia. NWS has identified the Columbia damage as a separate EF1 tornado that developed approximately four minutes after the York County tornado lifted.

The NWS has not verified the findings/damage yet as of 8:10pm on Thursday evening. Looks like the high school or middle school was also damaged.

✅ I will update once the NWS has released confirmation of a tornado or straight line winds.

Use caution if traveling and you encounter one of these cells. Heavy rain can cause ponding on the roadways and cause visibility to plummet to less than 1/4-mile in seconds.
