Why the f**k do we think we’re the only ones who shouldn’t get paid?!
Everybody does it but us.
Doctors do it. Dentists do it. Handymen, electricians - every f**king profession sells their book when they exit and gets paid.
But hairdressers? We walk away broke and think we’re noble for it.
“Oh that’s dirty, you can’t sell people.” Bu****it. You’re not selling people. You’re getting paid for who you refer to. You want to specialize and ditch haircuts? Sell that part of your book. Tired of extensions? Sell it. Moving states? Cash out.
If you want to call this a dirty word, YOU’RE the dirty word.

Thoughts? Am I wrong? Selling your clientele isn’t dirty. Giving away 20 years of work for free is.

Stop discounting your s**t.
I saw a girl grow her book on Groupon and coupons and now she’s stuck at $85 for a partial while the stylist next to her charges $300 for the same damn thing. Pigeonholed. Like brings like - broke clients refer broke clients who want the same cheap price.
Owner used to tell us “If they want a $15 cut, give them a $15 cut, they’ll pay more later.” Bu****it. They expect a discount every time. It never works. Never.
Discount your work and you ARE discounted work.
You still doing $15 cuts hoping they turn into $150?

Forget TJ Maxx. We’re talking WALMART now and it’s way f**king worse.
You guys blew up my DMs last week about Blondor. So I switched it up and went to Walmart. Walked in right when they opened, had the barcode screenshot from that viral bucket.
Made them scan it.
It wasn’t Blondor. It was that cheap Fusion Duo Repair Duo s**t - the 32oz shampoo and conditioner sale - with the tag ripped off and slapped on a bleach bucket. Straight up bait and switch.
So if you’ve been hunting Walmart for it, stop. It was never real.

They love saying independent stylists go out to pasture and die.
That’s the fear s**t salon owners fed us for years so you wouldn’t leave. “You’ll fail in a suite. You can’t make it alone.”
Bu****it.
We got people behind the chair making well into 6 figures as independents now. Not surviving - eating good. We’re writing the blueprint for what independent actually looks like. We put our foot down and rewrote what’s acceptable.
It’s not selling people. It’s owning your s**t. It’s not walking away broke after 20 years of building a book.
So why are they still so f**king scared of us leaving?

You guys were right! You couldn’t find it because it was never f**king there.
Last week I asked you to check your TJ Maxx for that Blondor bucket. Hundreds of you DM’d me - “Jason, my store is empty, I can’t find this s**t anywhere.”
So I went this morning when they opened. Got the barcode screenshot and made the manager scan it.
It wasn’t Blondor. It was Fusion Duo Repair Duo - shampoo and conditioner - with the tag switched onto a bucket. Classic bait and switch. Tag off one thing, slap it on the bleach, done.
Not real. We caught it.

Be real, do you have a 401k? A financial advisor? Or are you walking away from your 6-figure chair with nothing like the rest of us were taught to do
It makes me sick to my stomach.
Watching successful hairdressers walk away from a 6-figure business with absolutely f**king nothing. No 401k. No financial advisor. No retirement. Just... done.
We’ve been sold this hustle bulls**t for years. “Just love what you do!” Love don’t pay your rent at 65.
This is forward thinking. Your book is your portfolio. It’s worth something. You should be able to sell your clientele and have something to show for 30 years behind the chair.
So why are we the only industry that walks away broke?

I know what’s coming.
“F**k these bi***es, they don’t know s**t, they just want your money for clients.”
Cool. But how many salon owners have you seen sell the whole f**king salon WITH THE STAFF inside it and pocket 6 figures? No one says s**t about that.
It’s the same goddamn thing. Except now YOU own your business. You built that book chair by chair.
Why is it normal when the owner does it, but dirty when you do it

sell clientele, salon owner sells staff, hairdresser business, independent hairstylist, booth renter, buy clientele, salon industry hypocrisy, beauty pros exchange, behind the chair truth, hairstylist retirement
Behind the chair, every hairstylist knows how this salon industry works. A salon owner can sell their whole salon with the staff included and everybody claps. But when an independent hairdresser wants to sell her own clientele she built for 10 years? Suddenly it’s “dirty” and “sleazy.” The hypocrisy is insane.
In this clip from S**t I Told My Hairdresser, we call it out with Beauty Pros Exchange. We talk about why it’s time to normalize hairstylists owning their business for real - including the right to sell your book, buy clientele when you move, and finally get support instead of getting f**ked by big beauty, Amazon diversion, and fake coaches. For all you real hairdressers out there tired of the double standard.

“We don’t pay our staff to smile at you. TIP WELL OR GET OUT.”
“If you can’t afford to tip properly, you can’t afford to get your hair done here. Don’t be cheap. It’s embarrassing.”
I’m sorry... WHAT?
I’ve been behind the chair for 34+ years. I know we work our asses off. But threatening clients before they even sit down?
This isn’t education. It’s extortion with a blowdry.
