There has never been a more exciting time when it comes to ALS research. We are committed to finding treatments to help slow or stop this disease. Progress is being made, thanks to your support.

In 2011, scientists funded by The ALS Association identified the most common genetic cause of ALS: C9orf72. Over the last few years, researchers have continued to make discoveries around the biology of this irregularity.

Within the last month, scientists have made exciting advancements. In one study, scientists used fruit flies to determine that abnormal protein production damages neurons in the most common genetic form of ALS. And two independent studies found that a key driver of the development of ALS due to this mutation is an export-import imbalance between the cell’s nucleus and its non-nuclear portion, or cytoplasm.

What does this mean for people with ALS? When we understand more about the biology of this mutation, we can develop strategies to target the disease process.

Leveraging this promising new knowledge about C9orf72, The ALS Association has partnered with several pharmaceutical companies to invest in drug development. If we know how ALS disease progression works, we can develop drugs to target it and, hopefully, slow or stop it.

Full Bloom Film Festival~
I sat and watched Dan Behind His Eyes in the historic jail where we filmed and recorded the end credit song written and composed by Jodi John-Pippin.
My stars...it was full circle beautiful. Thank you Full Bloom for the wonderful reception and support at our first screening yesterday. Can't wait to do it again today. Missing the crew who made the journey with us~Charles Colarusso, Sonja Prieto-Maiz, Paula Navarro, Greg Pierot.

Say True Films on location shooting Jodi John-Pippin and BTS stills from musical recording "Walk In Another Man's Shoes" for closing credits of documentary short Dan Behind His Eyes. Recorded in Statesville NC Iredell Arts Council historic jail and also in the Statesville local home of Henry F. Steele. Musicians playing with Jodi are
Adam Moore, Edwin Dwight Burks, Keaton Lange; and Jodi's three children Sophie, Oliver, and Veda.
Gray Burchette did sound mixing and recording...hope to see you all at the Full Bloom Festival screening!

Dan Behind His Eyes will be screened at the Statesville NC Full Bloom Film Festival. Going back to a place that treated us like GOLD as we filmed and recorded the end credit song Walk In Another Man's Shoes, written by Dan's sister Jodi John-Pippin, in their Iredell Arts Council Historic Jail. She recorded the song with her three children and local musicians who gifted their time and their talent to the film project. Can't wait to see so many of our Statesville friends again!

Most of the ALS ice bucket millions is going into research for a cure...and the rest into other "buckets". We also stay committed to being a part of the ALS challenge, so Say True Films has recently submitted their award-winning film, "Dan Behind His Eyes", to children and teen film festivals around the world that are screening films focused on art, music, inspiration, life challenges, courage and hope. It would be so fulfilling to introduce Dan and Gina to them~

Thank you Enzian Theatre for all of your incredible support as we begin our youth acting class registration. It's a beautiful, inspirational "home" for young children and teens to develop their acting craft and their ART of storytelling!
