Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to lead with purpose in philanthropy right now.

It seems that there are more challenges than ever before as nonprofits face shrinking federal support, decreased trust from the public, and growing political and financial uncertainty.

That’s why I was so grateful to sit down with Dr. Sherece West, President & CEO of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.

Sherece is one of the most thoughtful leaders in our sector. With nearly 30 years in public policy, advocacy, and systems change, she shared how WRF is leaning into its 50-year legacy to stand with nonprofits through:

💡 Trust-based, equity-focused funding

💡 Advocacy that shifts systems, not just programs

💡 Bold strategies that help communities build real power

UPDATE! I'm done with radiation! 🎉🎉

If you've been following me for a while you know that on October 1 of last year I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma - breast cancer.

Since that time, I have undergone six months of chemotherapy, one mastectomy, and 35 rounds of radiation.

I wish I could say this is the end, but that's not how cancer works. In the coming months, I will still be getting my immunotherapy/TDM1 infusions and I will be closely monitored. More surgery to come this winter.

But for today, I'll celebrate this HUGE milestone. 🏆

THANK YOU to everyone who sent a card, sent a text, sent a message, or said a prayer. I needed it and will continue to need it as I journey through recovery. ❤️
