Big Bear Lake had very gusty winds yesterday, but also cool moist air and a little bit of rain that helped dampen the wildfire. When the moon rose through the pine trees slast night, it mixed with storm clouds, and smoke from the Line fire, resulting in a haunting and surrealistic image. Stay safe everyone!

Weather conditions gave us some blue skies and sunshine for a while this morning at Big Bear Lake. Heavy smoke from the Line Fire didn't begin rolling into the valley until about noon. It was nice to be able to go outside, and breath some clean air for a little while. Stay safe everyone!

It's amazing how quickly the situation can change. The top photo Big Bear Lake looks west from Stanfield yesterday morning about 10am. Smoke was just beginning to blow into the valley over the dam. The second photo was taken just two and a half hours later.

This photo is not a sunset. It is a shot of smoke pouring into Big Bear valley, and taken about 2:00pm yesterday afternoon. The Line Fire has burned over 17,000 acres as of this morning. Stay safe everyone!

A lot of storm clouds have passed over Big Bear Lake the last couple days, but no rain or snow yet. Still a chance for tonight or tomorrow!! 🌨☃️

Enjoyed a relaxing late afternoon walk on the bike path that goes through the marshlands at east end Big Bear Lake. There is a lot of wildlife out there. I should have taken a telephoto lens with me. If you haven't already walked it, go check it out! 😃

It was a warm summer evening as the sun set over Big Bear Lake last night! 😃

Looks like we are going to have a great summer season at Big Bear Lake!! Last November the lake water level was at a low of 54ft 8in. Thanks to last winter’s storms, the water level has increased about 12 feet. Both of these photos are of the same bay located at the eastern end of the lake. The first photo was taken a few days ago on May 24, 2023, when the lake level was at about 66 ft 2 in, and still filling. The second image was taken last October 2022, when that same bay was completely dry. Stay safe out there!! 🚣‍♂️ 😃
