On November 29, 1993, downtown Canberra turned into a war zone.

Felipe Ruizdiaz drove a fuel-rigged vehicle into the Jolimont Centre, setting fires and opening gunfire on police. Radio staff trapped on the upper floors escaped through windows, while flames tore through the building below.

After a tense two-hour standoff, the gunman took his own life — leaving behind destruction, trauma, and unanswered questions.
