Welcome to 2026.

It feels a little different this year, doesn't it?

We aren't just turning a page on the calendar; we are kicking off the year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday. As a VA250 - American Revolution 250 Commission Commemorative Partner here in Central Virginia, I can’t help but think about what that actually means for us.

We talk a lot about "history" like it is something that just sits in a museum. But really? History is just people—shopkeepers, neighbors, and families—who decided to keep showing up, day after day, for the people around them.

That is exactly what you are doing with your business. You are putting down roots. You are building something that lasts.

I know the start of a big year can feel loud. There is a lot of pressure to have big plans. But remember: 250 years wasn't built in a day. It was built one morning at a time.

So, if you are starting this year with a big strategy? Fantastic. If you are starting it quietly, just wanting to serve your first customer of the year well? That is totally fine, too.

I am proud to be celebrating alongside you all this year. Let’s make it a good one.

It turns out the "new" way to win on social media in 2026 is actually the old way.

That is why my word for 2026 is Connection.

Here is what that actually looks like for the year ahead:

For Eagle's Eye Creative: It means doubling down on our original mission to put the "social" back in social media. We are moving away from the "churn and burn" content style and focusing on helping businesses put down real, trusted roots.

For my clients: It means we stop shouting into the void. Instead of just chasing engagement, we are going to build "Community Standing." We are going to treat your comment section like a customer service counter and build an asset that no algorithm update can take away.

And for me personally: It means showing up as a human, not just a logo. I want to build genuine relationships with you that last longer than a 24-hour story.

I’m trading the hustle for a handshake this year.

The sun will be dipping behind the ridges for the last time in 2025.

I always feel like these mountains hold the score better than we do. They’ve seen the storms this year brought, but they also saw the hustle you put in when no one was watching.

I know for some of you, 2025 asked for a lot more grit than you wanted to give. It might have been a year of steep climbs. But you walked it. You kept the lights on.

I also want to say a massive thank you to those of you who trusted me with your business this year. To everyone who took the advice, put in the work, and saw real community growth come from it—watching you succeed has been the absolute highlight of my year.

Let’s leave the heavy stuff at the gate tonight—the guilt about missed posts, the stress of the slow weeks, all of it. You don’t have to carry that across the threshold into tomorrow.

Let’s be honest: The urge to just ghost your social media until January is strong right now. 🎄🛑

It is already a busy season for us here in Central Virginia. Between the holiday rush and trying to close out the year, posting on Instagram feels like just one more thing on a very long to-do list.

But here is the thing I tell business owners all the time: You cannot disappear for a month and expect your community to still be waiting there for you in 2026.

Usually, the reason we want to quit is because we believe these 5 myths in the carousel above. We think if it’s not "viral" or "perfect," it doesn't count.

That pressure makes the holidays feel impossible.

The reality? You don't need to be perfect right now. You just need to be present. Staying consistent now—even imperfectly—is how you beat the "after-holiday slump" and start the new year strong.
