We made it another year! Come out and celebrate at Ploughman Cider Taproom open mic tomorrow night!
And why shouldn’t we? We’ve been working hard with our amazing roster of artists to preserve and showcase local original music right here in Adams County.
In the past year, we brought you releases from The Willys, The Clark McLane Band, Matthew Harrison, Dark River Darling, Cumberland Honey, Peter Wile - Music, Glass Grin, and Aaron Samuels. Check out all our current releases at: https://guernseybeat.bandcamp.com/
We also released 15 episodes of The Home Grown Back Room Sessions Podcast, featuring local bands playing original music and talking about their process. We were nominated for a CPMA award for our efforts, but sadly, we lost to some low effort youtube channel. Anyway, all episodes are available wherever you listen to podcasts, and here: https://www.guernseybeat.com/back-room-sessions
This year is shaping up to be even busier!
We built our first proper website this spring, which will continue to roll out through the summer with artist pages and exclusive content by and about our bands. Check it out: https://www.guernseybeat.com/
We’re working hard promoting for next month’s Dig My Earth Festival, June 5-6 at the South Mt. Fairgrounds. GB will be onsite throughout running sound for the festival and supporting our artists! Check out the lineup and get your tickets here: https://www.guernseybeat.com/dig-my-earth
We’re also preparing for this year’s Guernsey Beat Rocks, which will be Aug 29th on the Arts Oasis Stage in Gettysburg. The one-day fundraiser for Four Diamonds cancer research will feature ten amazing local bands this year, running from noon till 10pm. Last year we raised $6200, and we’re hoping to top that effort this year, so mark your calendars. Artist announcements will be coming next month!
But what about the records?! You got it, here goes:

It features nine original tracks written by Landis and Mahar and recorded at our own Cidernalia Studios. You can pre-order the album here for early delivery before June 1 here: https://guernseybeat.bandcamp.com/album/sweet-talk

Glass Grin (Evan Crider, Mat Morris, Dean Vaccher, Troy Weishaar) will be releasing their alt rock debut LP in July. It features nine original tracks written by Crider and recorded at our own Cidernalia Studios. The mood on this one is deep and dark, but powerful and kind at the same time. Pre-orders will be available soon!

Chuck Darwin & The Knuckle-Draggers(Ben Wenk, Dave Pickering, Dean Vaccher, Billy Jones) will be re-releasing their last two albums, “Three Car Pileup” and “Poor Man’s Rain” together on one CD for the first time in June. Poor Man’s Rain has been fully remixed and mastered for the release, and you gotta hear it! The remasters will be available for streaming later this month.
Chuck D will also wrap the recording on their fourth still-untitled studio album this month, aiming for an October release. In their typical string-band fusion style, it features nine original tracks written by Huettner/Leib/Wenk and Tom Roth, and features guest performances from Jeff Taylor, Scott Matlock, and Gena Lanette. Look for updates on this new album mid-summer!
Mike Kell Music, along with his band (Mike Kell, Sawyer Sneeringer, Troy Shatzer) are in the process of finishing up their first still-untitled Guernsey Beat release at Cidernalia Studios this month. This bluesy rockabilly album will feature eight original tracks written by Kell with guest appearances by Mike Dempsey, Gena Lanette, and Dave Pickering.
Bad Naked (Mat Morris, Mike Stearns, Dean Vaccher, Blake Frame) is working diligently on their debut rock LP for GB. It features nine powerhouse tracks written by Morris, at times reminiscent at times of Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains. This album is slated for a fall release. Stay tuned for details on it!
The Clark McLane Band is back in the studio as well with an audacious plan to sprinkle their new original music across your whole summer and fall. Stay tuned on this one!
Joe Plowman & Brittany Tranbaugh are a Philly-based duo who have recorded their first Guernsey Beat release at Cidernalia Studios as well. This full band EP is imbued with timely humor, and gives an equal mix of expertly arranged indie rock and alt country tracks. The band will release two singles with music videos this summer. The EP slated for full release on 7” vinyl and CD in November.
We also have several exciting projects beginning this summer at Cidernalia Studios which we can’t announce just yet, but will almost certainly guarantee Guernsey Beat will be around for its third birthday!
I want to say thank you to everyone who has worked with us, placed their faith in us, and hyped us up within the local music scene. If y’all keep bringing the scene, we’ll keep bringing the herd!
