Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator/Owner of StampingTrails Hello, I’m Lisa Maynard, founder, and owner of Stamping Trails. I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’d like to share a little bit about myself. My husband of 27 years, Joe, and I live in Billings, Montana. Our two grown daughters are attending college and professional school which officially makes us empty nesters. Well, almost empty nesters as we’ve gladly taken on the role of grandparents to our grand-dog Thatcher, a Mini Australian Shepherd. We also own a cabin on the banks of the Stillwater

River near Nye, Montana. As a native Montanan, this is the perfect spot to continue enjoying all the outdoor activities I relished as a kid – hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting. At the end of the day, we typically lounge on the deck under the canopy of a star-lit sky and embrace the murmur of the river. Although I take great pleasure in being outdoors, crafting is where my heart is. Over the course of 30+ years, I’ve ventured down a variety of crafting trails including cross-stitching, fabric stenciling, small stints at knitting, and sewing – it might be safe to say that I’m not a newbie by any means. For the past 25 years, my chosen path has been decorative painting. About two years ago I came upon another byway – paper crafting - through a good friend in my decorative painting group. After I saw the adorable cards she had created, a desire was stirred in me to give paper crafting a go as I have such fond memories of making and playing with paper dolls as a child. I came across Stampin’ Up! and my upline on Pinterest if you can believe it! I soon fell in love with card making and all the products involved with it; the assorted paper, the chromatic ink, the gadgets, the bling. But most importantly, I envisioned the sentiments that are yet to be written inside and that fills me up with such joy. Taking ordinary products like stamps, ink, and paper and creating an extraordinary piece of art is incredibly fulfilling. I love creating and sharing that joy and this journey I’m on with others, one card at a time. If you are interested in learning more about cardmaking, papercrafts, and Stampin’ Up! drop me a note. Can you believe the base of this card is a window sheet? ✨

This was another project from the Metallic Magic Card Class, and I love how clean and modern it turned out. Using a window sheet as the card base creates such a fun surprise while still giving you plenty of room to decorate.

To add a little extra interest, we colored the stripes on the designer paper with the new Perfectly Pine Shimmer Pen, giving the background a subtle shimmer that’s hard to capture in photos. We also hot foiled the Celebrate and Happy Birthday sentiments in silver using the Classic Greetings Bundle. The layered sentiments really pop against the striped background and the clear card base.

It’s amazing how a few special details—a clear window sheet, a little shimmer, and some silver hot foiling—can transform a simple design into something unique.

This was one of my favorite projects from the Metallic Magic Card Class! ✨🦋

This card combines several hot foiling techniques, and the finished result is even prettier in person than it is in the photos. The butterflies were first hot foiled in gold on a window sheet, creating the illusion that they're floating above the card. We also foiled the butterflies a second time on white cardstock using silver foil, then ink blended them with Golden Glow and Crisp Cantaloupe before die cutting them. Each butterfly was attached to the back of the window sheet with tiny dots of liquid adhesive hidden behind the silver foiled details, creating the floating effect.

The background has lots of sparkle too! We hot foiled the Botanical Glow die in gold on the yellow checkered designer paper, then stamped the coordinating Botanical Glow image in Perfectly Pine over the top to add depth and texture.

I absolutely love how all of the layers work together, and the floating butterflies make this card feel extra special. It's a fun reminder that hot foiling isn't just for sentiments—you can use it to create beautiful backgrounds, dimension, and unique design elements too!

I had so much fun creating this card during the Metallic Magic Craft Class! It was the perfect introduction to the new Hot Foil System, and I’m really impressed with how beautifully everything came together.

For this card, we used the Butterfly Flight Bundle, which includes hot foil plates, coordinating dies, and decorative masks. The butterflies were foiled in silver on Golden Glow cardstock, then ink blended with Crisp Cantaloupe using the masks for a soft, layered look. The Happy Birthday sentiment was foiled in gold with the Classic Greetings Bundle, adding just the right finishing touch.

I especially love the clean design and the combination of silver and gold with the warm butterfly colors. I think this card turned out beautifully!

I had fun creating this card for www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com #746! I used the July Product of the Month, Begonia Belle, along with the Scalloped Blooms Dies to bring this clean and elegant design to life.

I love how the scalloped details add just the right amount of texture without taking away from the beautiful floral focal point. Sketch challenges are always a great way to spark creativity and encourage me to try new layouts, and this one was no exception!

Ever had a sentiment that was just a little too long for your cardstock?

This simple masking trick lets you stamp one part of the sentiment at a time so it fits perfectly.

Here are the last three cards I created from the scrapbook layout in the Pretty Poinsettia card class! 🎄

Instead of making the layout, I turned all of the elements into six Christmas cards, and it was so much fun seeing how many different designs I could create from one project. Mixing the soft plaid backgrounds with different poinsettia colors and sentiment layouts gave each card its own unique look.

I hope this inspires you to look at your crafting supplies in a different way. A scrapbook layout doesn’t have to stay a scrapbook layout—it can become cards, gift tags, treat holders, or whatever inspires you!

The third project from the Pretty Poinsettia card class was actually a scrapbook layout—but I decided to use the pieces to create six Christmas cards instead!

Here are the first three. 😊 I love how each one has its own personality, even though they all use the same supplies. It’s a great reminder that you don’t have to use a project exactly as designed. Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration to turn one idea into something completely different.

I think the soft plaid backgrounds paired with the poinsettias make these cards feel fresh and elegant. Which one is your favorite—the green, pink, or yellow plaid?

Did you know that using the inside of your scissors to distress cardstock can dull the cutting edge?

A simple fix is to use the **outside** of your scissors instead. You'll get the same distressed, weathered look while helping keep your scissors sharp.

Here’s the second project from the Pretty Poinsettia card class! 🎄

This sweet gift box opens right down the middle, making it perfect for a small gift, candy, a gift card, or another little surprise. It looks so elegant with the layered poinsettias, gold leaves, and soft green plaid, but it’s actually not difficult to make.

What I love most is how versatile this design is. I can easily imagine making this same box in different colors and patterns for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, or other special occasions. It’s one of those projects you’ll want to create again and again!

I finished the first card from the Pretty Poinsettia card class, and I love how it turned out! 🌺

One of my favorite things about this card is the color combination. I never would have thought to stamp the poinsettias in Calypso Coral on Barely Blush cardstock, but they work together beautifully. The soft background lets the flowers stand out while the layered greenery adds so much depth and dimension.

This was such a fun card to make, and it’s a great reminder to try color combinations you might not normally reach for—you never know what you’ll discover!
