Stamping Trails

Stamping Trails Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator/Owner of StampingTrails Hello, I’m Lisa Maynard, founder, and owner of Stamping Trails. I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’d like to share a little bit about myself. My husband of 27 years, Joe, and I live in Billings, Montana. Our two grown daughters are attending college and professional school which officially makes us empty nesters. Well, almost empty nesters as we’ve gladly taken on the role of grandparents to our grand-dog Thatcher, a Mini Australian Shepherd. We also own a cabin on the banks of the Stillwater

River near Nye, Montana. As a native Montanan, this is the perfect spot to continue enjoying all the outdoor activities I relished as a kid – hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting. At the end of the day, we typically lounge on the deck under the canopy of a star-lit sky and embrace the murmur of the river. Although I take great pleasure in being outdoors, crafting is where my heart is. Over the course of 30+ years, I’ve ventured down a variety of crafting trails including cross-stitching, fabric stenciling, small stints at knitting, and sewing – it might be safe to say that I’m not a newbie by any means. For the past 25 years, my chosen path has been decorative painting. About two years ago I came upon another byway – paper crafting - through a good friend in my decorative painting group. After I saw the adorable cards she had created, a desire was stirred in me to give paper crafting a go as I have such fond memories of making and playing with paper dolls as a child. I came across Stampin’ Up! and my upline on Pinterest if you can believe it! I soon fell in love with card making and all the products involved with it; the assorted paper, the chromatic ink, the gadgets, the bling. But most importantly, I envisioned the sentiments that are yet to be written inside and that fills me up with such joy. Taking ordinary products like stamps, ink, and paper and creating an extraordinary piece of art is incredibly fulfilling. I love creating and sharing that joy and this journey I’m on with others, one card at a time. If you are interested in learning more about cardmaking, papercrafts, and Stampin’ Up! drop me a note. I would be more than happy to be your Demonstrator; to help you explore and discover new adventures in paper crafting.

Friends… I told you I couldn’t stop creating with the Silly Old Bear Suite! 😊

This card started as another fun fold idea, but I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of using the usual rectangles for the focal panels, I used the beautiful label dies and cut them from Pecan Pie and Very Vanilla cardstock for both the front and inside of the card. I think those curved shapes add so much interest and give the card a unique look and feel.

The warm Pecan Pie, Very Vanilla, and Golden Glow color combination feels so cozy and works perfectly with these sweet Pooh images. The ribbon bow and layered die cuts add just the right finishing touches.

And here’s a little detail you might have missed… did you notice Pooh tucked up in the trees in the background DSP? 🐻🍯 It’s those little surprises that make this suite so much fun to create with.
The fun fold opens to reveal a large space inside for your message, framed by another die-cut label that carries the design through the entire card. It’s one of those cards that’s just as much fun to open as it is to make! Tell me… did you spot Pooh in the trees right away, or did it take a second look? 👀

Okay friends… I promise this is probably not the last Silly Old Bear card you’re going to see from me this week. 😂 Once I started creating with this suite again, I just kept coming up with more ideas.

I had so much fun making this fun fold card because it has a couple little hidden surprises along the way. The small panel on the front opens up to reveal the sentiment, then it opens again to show the sweet scene of Pooh’s house tucked inside the tree, and then one more fold opens to the writing area inside the card.

It’s probably just me, but I really tried to coordinate all the little parts and pieces of this card to tell a story as you open each section. From Pooh and the rabbits on the front, to the treehouse scene inside, all the way to the tiny “hunny” pot on the writing panel… I loved putting all the details together. 😊 These cards honestly feel more like little storybooks than cards, and I think that’s why I can’t stop creating with this suite.

Okay friends… I warned you. 😄 I’m going to be flooding you a little bit with cards from the Silly Old Bear Suite this week because once I started creating with it again, I just couldn’t stop!

There’s just something so sweet and nostalgic about these images. This little scene with Pooh sitting on the fence looking at Piglet absolutely melts my heart. ❤️

For this card I paired the DSP scene with soft blues and added some texture with an embossed background panel. The ribbon and layered label give it just enough extra detail without taking away from that adorable focal image. And the sentiment? So simple and so true… “Old friends are the best friends.”

I also carried the embossed detail to the inside of the card because I love those little finishing touches that make a handmade card feel extra special. Honestly, I think this suite might be one of those collections I never put away. 😊

Friends…I’m back at it again. Sorry, not sorry. 😊 I just couldn’t resist diving back into the Silly Old Bear Suite one more time. These sweet little scenes from the DSP and coordinating dies are just too good not to keep creating with!

For this card I layered one of the cozy DSP scenes with those beautiful detailed dies and pulled in some of the gorgeous In Colors that work perfectly with these images. I love how the greens and berry tones give this card such a warm, storybook feel.

And can we talk about the inside? I stamped Pooh and Piglet in Early Espresso and colored them with my Stampin’ Blends in Golden Glow, Barely Blush, and Perfect Pine. Such a simple little detail, but it finishes the card off perfectly. The sentiment on the front says it all…“I will love you until forever. And even after that.” ❤️

I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get tired of creating with this suite. Anyone else still completely obsessed with these adorable characters?

Yesterday I shared the first 2 cards I made using just one 12” x 12” piece of this gorgeous Lily of the Valley DSP… and today I’m back with the other 4 cards I created from the remaining pieces! 😊

I love seeing how many different looks you can get from one sheet of patterned paper just by changing the layout, sentiment, and embellishments. These cards came together with Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock cardstock, some fun die cut accents, and a few embellishments to finish them off.

This paper is just so soft and pretty and I honestly didn’t want to stop creating with it. 💚 If you would like the measurements and cutting guide for how I turned one 12” x 12” sheet of DSP into 6 cards, comment SIX below and I’ll send it to you!

I’m back with another card using the beautiful Lily of the Valley stamp and die set! 🌿💜

I actually made this same card design twice using just ONE 12” x 12” piece of DSP! I love finding ways to stretch our paper and get the most out of it while still creating something beautiful and elegant. Tomorrow I’ll show you exactly how I made these cards plus the other 4 cards that came from that same piece of paper. Such a fun way to create multiple cards without wasting any of your DSP!

I love the soft blended background, layered die cuts, and delicate lilies on this one. Simple, pretty, and easy to recreate.

Trying something new with another sketch challenge from https:/www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com and I have to say… these challenges are so much fun! 😊 They really push me to look at layouts in a different way and get creative with how I interpret the sketch.

For my take on Freshly Made Sketches #738, I used the Lily of the Valley stamps and dies to create this soft floral card. I blended a little Blackberry Bliss ink in the background for that soft pop of color, then stamped the lilies and leaves in Pretty Peacock and colored them with Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.

I finished the card off with a Blackberry Bliss sentiment and a little linen thread for some texture. I love how elegant and fresh this one turned out. 💜🌿

Do you like following sketches when you create cards, or do you prefer starting completely from scratch?

I finally decided to jump in and participate in another sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches and I’m having so much fun with these! 😊You can check them out here: https://www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com

I love how a simple sketch can really push you to think outside the box and look at your supplies in a completely different way. It’s such a great creative exercise and honestly so inspiring to see what everyone comes up with from the very same layout.

For this week’s challenge, I used the Berry Botanical Vellum along with the Scalloped Wishes Bundle to create this bright floral card. I just love how the vellum makes the colors pop, and those layered scalloped dies add so much detail and texture. And yes… I even added the vellum to the envelope flap because cute envelopes make me happy too. 😄 I think this one turned out so cheerful and fresh for spring and summer cards!

Do you ever use sketches when you create cards? They really are a great way to spark new ideas. 💕
