Beartooth Pass (US 212) will close 12 PM Friday through the weekend due to incoming snow storm.

🚧 Due to anticipated snowfall, MDT will be closing the Beartooth Highway at the Vista Point gate tomorrow, Friday, October 3, at noon. Crews will be monitoring the area and are planning to reopen the gate to the state line next week, weather permitting. Please plan ahead and check 511mt.net before you go.

Tis the season. October snow will impact the higher elevations of Montana this weekend. The most significant snowfall looks to occur in the Beartooth/Absaroka Mountains where over a foot will be possible above 8,000 feet.
I expect the Beartooth Pass to be closed at some point in time. Hunters and hikers in the mountains should take note of this storm and plan for an extended period of wet and cold conditions this weekend.
