PRAM Mississippi Beach Chapter

We provide professional development and engagement opportunities for public relations, communication, and business professionals in Coastal Mississippi.

Members of the Mississippi Beach chapter of PRAM are also members of the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF), which brings Mississippi public relations practitioners together with others in Alabama, Louisiana, and the Emerald Coast of the Florida Panhandle. Our chapter serves the coastal Mississippi counties of Harrison and Hancock. In addition to the professional development aspect of attending meetings and joining the chapter is the invaluable networking opportunities that come with meeting people who do very similar things in very different organizations — and all this for a modest annual membership fee of $70. We invite you to attend one of our meetings and see for yourself why the best public relations practitioners in Mississippi belong to PRAM. All meetings are scheduled to take place from noon to 1 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Hospitality Resort Management Center, and only cost $15 to attend for members, $25 for non-members and free for first time guests. Reservations are not required.

Next month, we invite you to meet the fearless leader of MSU's recent storytelling success - Thomas Broadus, CMO within the university's award-winning Office of Public Affairs. 🏫🗣️

A proud Coast native, Broadus began his career developing campaigns for leading businesses across the Gulf Coast before bringing his creative vision to Mississippi State. Since joining MSU, he has driven bold storytelling campaigns, launched the university’s digital transformation initiative, and led Mississippi State to the top of the SEC in social media engagement and reach. 🏅

His session will take a behind-the-scenes look at how MSU's Office of Public Affairs evolved the university’s voice through bolder visuals, edgier campaigns, and a renewed willingness to embrace both challenges and triumphs - all accomplished by leaning into MSU's authenticity and amplifying the university's cultural identity. 🙌

Marshall Ramsey, you were AMAZING!

Today, PRAM Beach had the absolute pleasure of hearing from the very talented, very funny and very personable Marshall Ramsey, who currently serves as the Director of the Mississippi Media Lab and the Director of Engagement for the Jordan Center in the School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi (in his words, his business card reads like a CVS receipt!) 📝

Marshall shared his story on how he went from a high school custodian to an award-winning editorial cartoonist, author and public speaker and the many changes and challenges he has faced in the journalism world. His journey is truly inspiring, and we loved learning about his life and career experiences. 🎨🎓📚

Marshall is the Director of the Mississippi Media Lab and the Director of Engagement for the Jordan Center at the School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi. He’s also a two-time Pulitzer Finalist (2002 and 2006), a 2022 Southeastern Emmy winner, and his editorial cartoons are syndicated nationally by Creators Syndicate.

A cancer survivor, Marshall also has been honored by both the Melanoma Research Foundation and the American Cancer Society for paying his survival forward. He actively promotes skin cancer awareness and sun safety through cartoons, speeches, skin screenings and a 5K race.
