The two-day event allowed students to experience careers from all 19 of Mississippi’s career clusters, from aquatic sciences to healthcare, aviation and construction.

Today was an incredible day at Pathways 2 Possibilities! 📺 The Mississippi Coast Coliseum welcomed 8th graders from across the region to explore exciting career opportunities through hands-on learning and demonstrations. Each student had 90 minutes to dive into everything the event had to offer, and there were so many booths with amazing interactive experiences!

Our WLOX team had an outstanding setup, giving students the chance to step in front of the camera, be interviewed at the anchor desk, learn how to operate cameras, and even experience working with a green screen, just like our meteorologists! It was truly inspiring to see their excitement.

I had the pleasure of interviewing many incredibly well-spoken 8th graders about their future aspirations and how beneficial this event is for students. Their insights blew me away! It was an amazing experience, and it brought back memories of being a wide-eyed 8th grader myself. The magic of the event was definitely still there for me as an adult – it's surreal to be on the other side now, helping to inspire the next generation!

Sometimes the best reset is as simple as stepping outside.
A quiet walk, a deep breath, and a chance to look up from the screens we’re glued to every day.

I spent some time on the Clower-Thornton Nature Trail in Gulfport yesterday, and it was such a peaceful reminder of how much beauty we miss when we rush through life. These little pockets of nature are right here in our backyard — we just have to slow down and notice them.

Work update! 📸

I was blessed to join a few of my wonderful colleagues and a group of so many great reporters in New Orleans for two days of training at one of our sister stations, WVUE. It was a great two insightful days full of tips about writing, photography and connecting with other journalists from across our region.

As a new reporter, it opened my eyes to so many helpful tips and tricks I can incorporate into my everyday reporting, and I can’t wait to see where it leads me!

What a week it’s been!

It kicked off in New Orleans with company training at WVUE’s beautiful station — two full days of sharpening our writing, camera skills, and connecting with journalists from across the region. Such a valuable (and genuinely fun) experience.

Afterward, my mom and I made a little evening of it with dinner in the city and a trip to the Saenger Theatre for the Neil Diamond musical. Broadway nights with her are always one of my favorite traditions.

Then it was right back into the usual rhythm…covering stories, anchoring… and a fresh haircut to finish out the week. ✂️

As for today, no Sunday Funday.. just a well-earned Sunday rest day. 🤣 But don’t worry, next week, we’ll pick things right back up!
