Jazz musicians have a habit of listing many of the other musicians they've played with...I don't play anything. But I know how to hold a microphone. The theme for this week's "Classic Vinyl Jazz" show is "name dropping." I'm playing the music of jazz artists whom I've interviewed, emceed for, or otherwise had some close encounters with: here are David Liebman, who sat in with Bill Carter's Presbybop Quintet on Bill's "Jazz for the Earth" CD; Steve Davis, whom I met on a jazz cruise and later interviewed for the "Spirit of Jazz" podcast; and Steve Wilson, for whom I emceed when he was a young sax player in Richmond. We'll also hear from Kevin Eubanks, Ellis Marsalis, and Stan Getz...yes, I name drop that I've emceed their concerts. Listen Thursday at 11 am or Saturday at 10 am. (One more thing: not one of these musicians has ever dropped MY name. No wonder.)

💜 FUTURE PLANS FOR SHARANE WORLD — WOULD YOU SUPPORT THIS? 💜

I want to ask my community something:

If I put together a Community Survivor & Awareness Fundraiser in Binghamton, would YOU support it and show up?

This is something I’m currently working toward — not a finalized event yet. I want to hear from the community first and see if this is something people would truly be interested in.

My name is Tiana McLaughlin, also known as Sharane, and I am the voice behind Sharane World — Awareness With Sharane.

I am an Independent Radio Host, Peer Mentor Survivor Advocate, and Community Awareness Advocate. I am also trained and certified in Gender-Based Violence Awareness 101.

I am a survivor of domestic violence and a survivor of narcissistic abuse. I use my voice and my experiences to bring awareness, education, resources, and community conversations to others.

My hope is that this could eventually grow into special monthly community meetings where women and men have an opportunity to listen, learn, connect with resources, and have their voices heard.
