On Tuesday evening, the UAB Men’s Basketball team returned to Bartow Arena, facing Alabama State in their third regular season matchup following the 24-point loss against NC State that marked their first away game of the season. The Blazers entered the game lacking a considerable piece of their rotation in junior big man João Das Chagas, who did not dress out for the night’s game.

McKinley Hubbard, a junior majoring in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was the winner of the 2026 Miss UAB Scholarship Competition held on November 9 at 5:30 p.m. in UAB’s Alys Stephens Center Jamison Concert Hall. Hubbard also received the Talent Award and was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants.

The UAB Blazers Men’s Basketball team tipped off their regular season on Monday night with a decisive 106-55 win over the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils.

Coming into the matchup, the Blazers, led by head coach Andy Kennedy, looked to start the regular season strong after dropping two exhibition games to Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.

A recent petition at UAB is calling for undergraduate diplomas to include students’ majors, an omission that has sparked confusion and debate among graduating Blazers.

Joshua Williams, a returning UAB graduate majoring in information systems, started the petition after realizing that most undergraduate diplomas do not list majors.

UAB has parted ways with head football coach Trent Dilfer, the university announced Sunday evening.

In a statement released by UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram, the university cited a need to “move forward in the best long-term interest of the program” after on-field performance “did not live up to the standard of winning we have for the program.”

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Office of Student Conduct and Accountability has updated its code, seeing an increase in the complexity of its cases.

The office is focused on the “restorative process,” streamlining procedures for students and expanding grace through its updated Medical Amnesty policy, which now includes alcohol and other drugs.
