UPDATE: Birmingham police say the 3-year-old girl who was forcibly kidnapped from her home by her uncle Thursday evening was safely recovered in Pearl, Mississippi. Officer Truman Fitzgerald says the suspect was also arrested at the scene.
SPREAD THE WORD: Birmingham police need the public's help finding a 3-year-old they believe to be in danger. Police say Corina Abigail Salgado Hernandez was last seen
wearing a pink tank top with sparkles and shorts with cowboy boots.
West Precinct officers were sent to the 3100 block of 17th Street Ensley on a report of a kidnapping around 6:30 p.m. Police told us the call came in through a language interpreter line.
"Officers learned that at around 6:15 p.m. an uncle forcibly abducted his niece at a residence then fled the scene in a dark blue sedan with tinted windows. Family members believe the uncle has kidnapped the child in an attempt to take the child to Mexico where her father is located or Honduras where paternal family members are located. We have reports on the scene there is an ongoing domestic dispute between the father and the mother," Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.
BPD says the suspect is 19-year-old Eli Sadiel Salgado Galindo. He's 6'0" and 160 pounds. We're told he has on a red shirt, blue shoes, torn dark jeans, tattoo of a rose on the right arm.
