Vestavia Hills school officials have no plans to redraw school attendance zones this year, but growth at Vestavia Hills Elementary School East has them concerned it may be necessary in the near future, Superintendent Todd Freeman told the school board Monday. See details:

Vestavia's Gavin Smith was named MVP of the North-South Baseball Classic on Monday.

AHSAA All-Star Week began in Montgomery on Monday with the golf and baseball competitions. In the North-South Baseball Classic doubleheader, the South team won 16-6 and the teams tied 7-7 in the second. However, Vestavia Hills' Gavin Smith was the MVP of the North team, hitting a home run in the first game of the series.

Briarwood Christian's Parker Daniels drove in three runs over the series. Homewood's Levi Nickoli knocked in a run and threw two innings in the second game. Rhys Jones of Spain Park also drove in a run.
