The Vestavia Hills City Council on Monday kicked off a new quadrennium for the city’s elected officials with a swearing-in ceremony at City Hall. See the photo gallery and choices for several other city positions appointed by the council:

New City Council members Ali Pilcher and Michael Vercher joined Mayor Ashley Curry and council members Rusty Weaver and Kimberly Cook in a swearing-in ceremony.

Vestavia Hills High School students this past year showed growth in several academic accomplishments, with higher ACT scores and greater college readiness scores, a school official shared at Monday’s school board meeting. However, the percentage of students scoring a 3 or higher on Advanced Placement tests to gain college credit decreased by almost 5 percentage points last year. See more:

Both ACT scores and college readiness scores increased last year, but the percentage of students earning college credit on AP exams dropped.
