A competing offer to purchase the Community House on Bates Street in Birmingham could well derail the offer made just weeks ago by the City of Birmingham to acquire the troubled iconic building.

In a federal district bankruptcy court filing today (Friday, June 5) legal counsel for the Julie and Mark Pulte Charitable Foundation flagged the court that on May 18 the foundation had made an offer of $5.5 million to acquire The Community House building and assets but sale documents filed with the court failed to note that an offer greater than the city’s offer of $5.2 million had also been made for the facility.
