Today, 610 WAGG honors a true architect of gospel music.

Richard Smallwood has given the world more than songs he’s given us sacred art. From the campus of Howard University to sanctuaries across the globe, his music tells the story of faith, salvation, and redemption with unmatched depth and excellence.

His compositions live in hymnals, cross languages and cultures, and continue to minister to hearts everywhere. We thank God for a life and legacy yielded to the Gospel and expressed through music that will stand the test of time.

Heaven 610 WAGG honors the life and legacy of gospel recording artist and Birmingham's own Katie B. Taylor Sankey, affectionately known as the Thunderbolt of the South, whose powerful voice and unwavering faith uplifted generations through gospel music.

Services to honor Katie B. Taylor Sankey's life work and ministry will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 12 noon at More Than Conquerors Faith Church, with a public viewing on Friday, December 26, at Arrington Funeral Home in Birmingham. Her legacy of ministry through music will live in our hearts forever.
