Thanks to our friend Chris Barentz for welcoming me to her hometown of Leeds, Alabama.

Chris, a local artist, has been painting sunflowers on Leeds storefronts in support of millions of Ukrainian civilians who are fleeing their country (the sunflower is the official flower of Ukraine).

Chris and her Volkswagen Sun Bug called "Sarah Rose" may be coming to your hometown!

Be sure to leave a comment for Chris, and be sure to keep it on WVTM 13 for stories that make a difference.

The sun is shining today.
For Chris Barentz of Leeds, the sun shines every day.
And there’s a good bet that Chris and her 1974 Volkswagen Love Bug named Sarah Rose will be getting after it today.

Chris is a talented artist, and she’s been on a roll, painting sunflowers on shop windows in Leeds, Alabama.

The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine, and Chris’ paintings are not only reminding the town folk to keep the people of Ukraine in their hearts, but are brightening up their small town.

From the outlet mall at Grand River to Leeds and soon to Springville, Chris and Sarah Rose may be coming to your town soon.

Brightening your day.

And that’ll be a good thing.
