My wife and I, along with some of our friends, play together and attend some local jam sessions nearby. I used some of that to serve as a basis for the story.”Thanks for the inspiration.

What inspired Author J.L. Royce to write “The Vigil of the Heretic and the Thief” for Weird Tales to Haunt Your Reptilian Brain? “As is often the case, the story carried the characters on to their just endings. I wanted to write about cosmic horror and cursed objects, books in particular, and the attraction they hold. It was natural to personify that seductive quality. The historical setting lets me explore a book’s backstory. What was the journey of the Necronomicon before the encounters described in H.P. Lovecraft and company? How many bloodstained hands did it pass through?” Thanks for the inspiration!

What inspired Author Stuart Conover to write “The Desert’s Dead” for Inanimate Things: Volume Two? "When I was a child, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents on days and weekends that my parents had to work. My grandmother really enjoyed westerns and was a huge fan of the author Louis L'Amour. She was also a huge fan of audio tapes for when she would take long trips or to listen to while working before she retired. So, she'd often sit me down to listen to them when I'd be drawing or building and I really became a fan of them as a child. A few years back, I was listening to them again and thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun to make a pulpy horror western that was being narrated by the same cast? So, that's what I did. This is the third of ten stories about the characters that I've started and the second to be published. In edits, I actually try to read the non-dialogue in the narrator's voice and tone. If it doesn't sound right, I end up changing it to fit the style. It's really been a fun world to explore and while most of my work doesn't live in it, I've had fun writing it!” Thanks for the inspiration.
