Bishop Union School Board Holds First Meeting of New School Year



BISHOP, CA — The Bishop Union School Board held its first meeting of the new school year Thursday evening, August 20, 2026, taking up a range of topics including increased developer fees, administrative reports, updates from Bishop schools, and comments from board members.



The meeting marked the board’s return to regular business as the 2026–27 school year gets underway.

A little cooler today and breezy, from a trough pushing through the PACNW. Best chances of isolated rain and t-storms remain to our North, but I can't rule out a few showers on Saturday in the Owens Valley. With that trough moving through, our ridge breaks down, allowing cooler temps to filter into our forecast area, over the weekend and into early next week....DMATT

One Year?

Update: The Mono County District Attorney's Office returned our call, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 5:10 PM. The judge who presided over the case was the Honorable Judge Stan Eller.

William Roeder sentenced by Judge to one year in jail after an open plea to child molestation charges. The District Attorney’s Office argued for the maximum sentence of six years and eight months.

Traffic Advisory for the Week of 8/24/2026 to 8/28/2026


EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of August 24 – August 28.



Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.


New Traffic Impacts


Eastern Kern County



Pearsonville Sign Work – On U.S. 395 from Brown Road to the Kern/Inyo county line, the shoulders in both directions will close while crews replace signs Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.





Mono County



Tioga Pass Traffic Breaks – On State Route 120 W from the eastern gate of Yosemite National Park to U.S.
