In episode 196 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with guitarist Jesse Dayton from the new guitar supergroup the Texas Headhunters. In their conversation Jesse tells us about some studio sessions he’s doing currently with Shooter Jennings.
Jesse describes growing up in Beaumont TX, home to Johnny and Edgar Winter and how Clifford Antone came to see him play in a club in Beaumont when he was only 15.
Jesse tells us about playing with Waylon Jennings for Waylon’s last recordings and his Jesse’s gear throughout the years.
Jesse describes how a chance meeting with Kris Kristofferson got his career in gear and likewise after working with Rob Zombie scoring Rob’s movies.
Jesse takes us through the lineage of the Texas Headhunters with himself, Ian Moore and Johnny Moeller all three discovered by Clifford Antone.

In their conversation Jonah tells us about the bands hometown which San Diego and the bands current tour plans supporting the band Benches.
Jonah discusses his decision to just be the recording guitarist for the band and just do vocals live.
Jonah talks about his writing guitar a small Martin guitar and his Rickenbacker and he talks about the rigs or the other guitarists in the band and he also talks about his dad’s collection which are the instruments that ended up on the band’s album “Hang A Star”.
Jonah describes the sound guys reaction when the band wheels in Marshall stacks and how he deals with them as a vocalist.
Finally, Jonah tells us about how the band scored a residency in New York and how they built their fan base in San Diego.
