A little summer update from your Farm Country 1260 Reporter! 🌾🎙️
This summer has looked a little different for me, and as it starts to wrap up, I wanted to share a little bit about what I’ve been up to behind the scenes!
It’s been a summer full of agriculture, livestock shows, county fairs, photography, traveling, meeting some incredible people, and of course, spending plenty of time behind the microphone here at Farm Country.
I also took on one of the biggest adventures of my life when I became a living kidney donor on June 9. That meant stepping away for a little while to have surgery and recover, but I’m incredibly grateful to be doing well and back to doing what I love.
I’m originally from Wyoming, where agriculture is a huge part of our communities, but farming, especially the kind we have here in Eastern Idaho, isn’t something I grew up around nearly as much. This summer, one of my close friends has been kind enough to let me tag along, help with chores, and experience more of that side of agriculture firsthand.
That has meant some very early mornings and some very late nights, but I’ve loved every minute of it. Getting to actually be out in the field, help where I can, and see firsthand how much work goes into producing a crop has given me an even greater appreciation for the farmers I get to talk about every day on Farm Country.
On top of everything else, I’ve been working toward another pretty exciting milestone, I’m getting ready to finish my degree in General Science from BYU-Idaho! 🎓
Going to school while working in agricultural media and taking on everything else this year definitely hasn't always been easy, but I’m excited to be this close to the finish line.
This summer has taken me from hospital rooms to show rings, county fairs, radio studios, classrooms, early mornings in the field, late nights on the farm, and plenty of places in between. It’s been busy, a little crazy, and definitely not what I expected, but I wouldn’t trade the experiences or the people I’ve met along the way.
I’m excited to see what comes next, and I’m especially grateful that I get to spend this chapter learning more about agriculture firsthand while telling the stories of the people who make this industry so special.
