LIBRARY BOARD MEETING CANCELED DUE TO LACK OF QUORUM
The Pierce County Library Board's quarterly meeting was canceled Wednesday afternoon due to lack of quorum.
Three Rivers Regional Library Director Jeremy Snell said the meeting will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Library board acting chairperson Mandy Williams and board member Malayna Wetherington were the only members present at the meeting. Board members Lana Blankenship, Austin Burgess and Jackie Moses were not present. The board currently has two vacancies since the board of education pulled out of funding the library last year. The two vacant seats are expected to be filled by the county commission at the commission's regular meeting set for August 5.

WAITES WINS PIERCE, HUBBARD ON TRACK TO WIN STATE Keisha Waites was the choice of local Democrats in the special primary election Tuesday, July 15.
Waites won locally over Peter Hubbard 10-5 as only 15 voters participated in the election.
Voter turnout locally was just over one tenth of one percent.
Hubbard appeared on track to win the Democratic nomination statewide with 57 percent of the vote.

DEMCRATIC PRIMARY RUN-OFF ELECTION IS TODAY, TUESDAY, JULY 15
Today, Tuesday, July 15, is the Democratic primary run-off election for the Public Service Commission (PSC) District 3 seat.
Only those who voted Democratic or those who did not vote in the June 17 primary are eligible to participate in the run-off election.
Keisha Waites and Peter Hubbard are vying for the Democratic nomination. The winner will face Republican Incumbent Fitz Johnson in the Nov. 4 general election.
Polls will be open until 7 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, July 15.

RAILROAD CROSSING REPAIRS UNDERWAY AT MIDWAY CROSSING, OAK RIDGE STILL PLANNED FOR JULY 14
County Manager Raphel Maddox has received an update from CSX Railroad that improvements to the railroad crossings at Midway Church Road will be done today, Thursday, July 10. Oak Ridge is still scheduled for Monday, July 14. The repairs are part of a series of projects to several crossings in Pierce County this summer.
